His stuff on canvas reminds me very much of Dave White

Both Daves and Meggs works are really good.....Dave has lots and lots of textures. The paint is an inch or two deep.

Meggs is maybe not as good an artist but I like the way he is twisting the superhero style (a bit like Lister)

Im biased as I own the pleasure and pain picture above :-)

I don't know it's a tough one to call as they have both use superheroes in their work although both have moved on from this now - Dave into war images then movie starlets and Meggs into... well that’s a surprise for the solo show! ;D

I worked with Dave at my previous gallery and he is an incredibly talented painter and you really have to see his pieces in person to see what people mean when they talk about texture and use of colour + every brush stroke is done for a reason - Meggs is a lot more fluid in style, I imagine due to his background in graffiti, so although they have used similar subjects in my opinion they are very different artists - I think when you see Meggs new works you won't compare the two anymore.

It's been a busy year for Meggs showing in exhibitions in Australian museums, solo shows in Tokyo and LA, featuring in the Hello Kitty show at Art Basel, Everfresh book release, featuring in the Victoria and Albert Contemporary Print show and entering their permanent collection, clothing line released by Addict and collaborations with Absolut Vodka and Tiger Beer amongst many more and still finding the time to hammer the streets with the rest of the Everfresh crew...

His 2011 is looking just a busy with numerous big things planned including a film and his first UK solo show with Zero Cool Gallery which will open in May 2011... but before then we have managed to get a small number of new originals from him which are online now...
