I've never been to an art festival/convention and am curious as to how things work.
Are the prices normally displayed next to the artwork?
Are the galleries really out there to move inventory at great deals or will they not work with you at all on the price?
Any insight would be great.

I don't think the prices are generally displayed at art fairs. Most galleries are willing to negotiate on the prices especially on the last day of the fair and in this economy.

There were a lot more prices displayed at the LA Art Fair this year than last... perhaps a concession that many people are too shy to ask. One gallery that flatly told me "no" when I asked for their card last year had their prices prominently displayed this year. (And had brought all the same paintings with them that they'd had the year before, boo hoo.)
