The work of Adam Caldwell - featured in 'Vision' this April This kinda reminds me of Chloe Early.

That one does have a bit of that Chloe Earley vibe, but his technique is much tighter and his concepts are really deep and historical. It's a lot more intellectual than Chloe's work, I think – less about escapism and glamour, more about society and the inner workings of the mind. Those two Adam Caldwell paintings are amazing-looking on the wall together... huge and vibrant.

The work of Pakayla Rai Biehn - featured in 'Vision' this April Posted a little 'sneak peek' set on Flickr from the 'Vision' group show that will be on view in our office area: www.flickr.com/photos/thinkspace/sets/72157623758310246/The work of Adam Caldwell - featured in 'Vision' this April i saw Pakayla's work online with Gallery 6 recently and was intrigued by her and her painting style. this piece is beautiful. here's some background on her from the Gallery 6 website.... Pakayla Biehn’s most recent body of work concerns her congenital vision disability, called Strabismus. Her eyesight consists of mutually exclusive images trying, unsuccessfully, to bond into a cohesive impression. She uses her own embodied identity as a starting point for her paintings and installations. Her goal is to find a visual language to negotiate the intersection of imagery and create a similar perspective to give the viewer an understanding of her own optical condition. i also thought of chloe early when i saw the adam caldwell piece above. i'm a big fan of chloe's, so i'm naturally biased, but i think chloe's looseness is what makes her paintings work so well for me. she achieves a fantastic degree of high definition in just the right areas and allows her backgrounds to blend into the focal point(s) within her work. this caldwell piece for me doesn't quite have that edge.... it has more of a collaged feel to it than a flowing composition, and i think it's his more defined focus on each and every detail within the piece that has my eye darting all over without finding a focus to the painting - same applies to the variance within the background. i think chloe knows when to stop painting and let the negative speak strongly as part of the composition. that said, i like his piece. caldwell certainly has the skills, and i'm sure we'll hear more from him going forward. i've said it elsewhere to you andrew, but my sincerest congratulations to you shawn and LC for taking the evergreen thinkspace another step forward. the tireless work that you 3 have put into your gallery, the artists you've shown and also fostering the new contemporary scene in LA and the wider world we love is much appreciated by me and i'm sure many, many others. you came a long way in a short time, and i wish you every success for the future. hope you have a blast this weekend in your new space. i hope to make it through the door sometime later this year.

Thank you for taking the time Sven to post such a nice note, really, really appreciate it. It's been a labor of love and we are so looking forward to all that lay ahead. Very energized. So wish you could be here to share it Sven.
Thank you as well for our comments on Adam's work (you too CommandaX). His intent with his work is for more of a collage based, photo realistic look achieved with oils. These babies are 3 feet x 4 feet. He's in his mid'40s and is from the Bay Area, good friend of Brett Amory, whom we also work with a good bit. Look for more from Adam in the near future with us, I really feel strongly of his work. I can see the Chole comparisons for a starting point of reference, but you broke it down pretty good for sure Sven.
Really looking forward to spending some quality time with you when I'm over in the UK this June for our show there with London Miles.

Thanks Weezy and to everyone else that came out and helped to make our opening night kick off such a massive success! All the support was just amazing, so many faces we hadn't seen in a good while. We'll be posting pics this afternoon and I'll be sure to put up a couple here along with a link to the full set. Here's the full-page feature from LA Times' Brand X magazine: Below is a link to the interview on Hi-Fructose that Nathan Spoor recently did with my partner LC and I about our move and upcoming 5 Year Anniversary. Check it out here: www.hifructose.com/the-blog/522-thinkspace-gallery-profile.html

The books are $45 each, no premium added for all the signatures/doodles - please shoot a mail over to contact@thinkspacegallery.com if you'd like to grab one. More on this later tonight once I post the shots from the signing.
