Got my Roland Tamayo pieces last week. They are so much better in person. The wood is so thick... I will have to get more of these drawings.

Some stuff if you missed it. Tamayo's gift for unexpected juxtapositions of different elements in his work is one of the things I love. Usually its a Industry x Nature mix but this time he took two elements of nature and blended them... Posted the rest of them here.I think these are still available from this show. I would have picked these up but the stuff I have from him are on panels and these are on wood paper. I wanted them to match. Here they are framed.

Did a little interview with Roland if you are interested. Excerpt: There is beauty in nature and beauty in what man can create. I find odd beauty in mechanical and industrial objects. The rust and decay of things give character to surfaces. Technology obviously can have it’s negatives, especially when it comes to our environment, but it is also necessary for us. There needs to be a better balance of things. So with the imagery, I try to create a balance there. I enjoy the contrast of things that don’t belong together, the hardness of metal next to the smoothness of whale skin as an example. There can be simple and interesting stories told combining things that don’t make sense.

Thanks for the heads up on the prints sleep, I had really been hoping some prints would be coming out as I love Roland's work. Just bought the "Port" print, can't wait to see it. Ben.

You beat me to the post Hung. I did those for Roland last year, I believe, but he insisted on not selling them until he got around to finishing my commission, real stand up guy.
He asked me about doing some more, not sure exactly which yet, but I think he wants to release them in November.

I just received my Port print from Roland and it looks great. I mentioned to Roland via email that I would love to see some Australian animals in his paintings, and to my great surprise and delight he included a sketch when he sent my print of an emu. It is really great to have an artist take the time to add such a personal touch, it really made my day.
