Bumping this for a little some-what depressing announcement.. Last week I was in london and got mugged - my bag was stolen which had numerous belongings inside, including my SLR which I need to photograph all of my works, and probably more importantly; use to photograph all of my reference material needed for paintings... I'm now stuck in a position where I'm a little bit screwed! Just letting everyone know, my paintings are for sale if anyone is perhaps interested in owning some original artwork. None are in any galleries as I haven't put myself out there yet (just building up a body of work before - only one painting away from being ready!)...so no commission costs, sales direct from myself, etc.. Prices range between £500-£2500 (most nearer the lower end!)... Alot of my work is of a decent size so the photos on my website can be some-what decieving apmmm.com - If you hover above the images, there is detailed info on dimensions and medium etc. All pieces have been framed to a very high standard and are ready to be hung. The 'Spawn' painting shown in the post above has just been put in this late 19th century hand carved frame: (no photos of it inside due to no camera!) ...and it really does make a statement.. £900 and it's yours I know this might sound like a desperate cry for help....but in all honestly - it sort of is. Msg me for any questions or info or anything at all.. Thanks all, Alex

Thanks for the concern svenman... Luckily I wasn't hurt, nor was there anything of real value in my bag other then my SLR... It could of been alot worse, but it does still leave me in quite a prediciment.. I have no insurance on my camera or anything similar, but thanks to this incident I'm a bit more wised up now and will certainly be getting insuring when I do eventually get another camera..! Cheers

Thank you! I have recieved mixed comments on the frame - a few people love it and a few people really do not! It's a lovely large Edwardian frame I bought last year... I thought I'd put it to use and purposely do a painting that would work well with the wood colours on the frame itself..

Small study for the next big painting... Not properly used to sketching detail stuff with pencil so it's a bit iffy, but I'm determined to make the painting a beast! Going to go big with it too..

So this is the next stage - rough acrylics.. Basically just mapping out the tones before I go in with the oils... I hate using acrylics so I tend to rush this stage and concequently her face looks a bit iffy still, but I know what to change with it so I'm more then confident when I go in with oils I'll be able to make her look rather pretty!

"The Garden" Oil on panel 59x59cm "Here at the fountain's sliding foot, Or at some fruit-tree's mossy root, Casting the body's vest aside, My soul into the boughs does glide : There like a bird it sits and sings, Then whets and combs its silver wings ; And, till prepared for longer flight, Waves in its plumes the various light. Such was that happy garden-state, While man there walked without a mate : After a place so pure and sweet, What other help could yet be meet! But 'twas beyond a mortal's share To wander solitary there : Two paradises 'twere in one To live in Paradise alone."

Rough sketchy sketch... Ready for some paint! This is definitely gonna be a challenge painting loads of different types of textures... Fully stoked on the concept though, in the setting it's going to be absoloutly pissing down so everything is going to be wet and shiney, lots of rain drops, etc etc...

The skin is currently in the "dead" layer stage. The next step is to pump some blood into it and make it alive, which is done by dry brushing on a red/pink and rouge-ing up the cheeks, nose, lips and alot on the hands... Extremities like the hands are all ways reder then normal flesh tone.. Once that is done and dry - bang on a few highlights here and there, like on the nose and cheek etc.. Skin is essentially done - except the umbrella she's holding is going to be the most vibrant of violets, which would cast a violet light on the lady herself... Think I'll do that using glazes...hmm

Yes, that's nice work. Good composition. Tondo's are not the easiest of formats to work on. And the colour is working well with the reflected light from the umbrella being taken into consideration. I like also the way you have handled the rainfall.
The kind of 'look' you have going on here would be realised even better in egg tempera in my opinion. Have you seen George Tooker's work?
Very good work.

Hi I saw this at the Summer Exhibition today & fell in love with it, its amazing. I spotted it from across the room & loved the colours; I only spotted the cat when I got closer. Looks a lot like my cat, who insists on being taken to the park whatever the weather. Donna
