A nice throwback to one of a piece I used to own, The Well.. Nice piece Lowpro, definitely made an appearance in his latest work. Did you end up aquiring any other Simkins after getting rid of this one?

Could anyone with an original Simkins painting tell me if the Varnish he uses is a matte or gloss finish?

There is a gloss finish on the work I have from 2008. Not sure if he's switched it up since, though.

Never seen any of his work in person but I had a feeling there was a gloss finish. It would look sharp with one atleast. Thanks lowpro!

I've been told the varnish he uses is a custom blend of three others, it's Todd Schorr's personal recipe...I can't remember any of the details, but basically, Schorr's "secret" blend is working its way around.

Google "Simkins, White Lighter" in Images. This is the only painting from Greg I've seen in a matte finish. I own it, along with some others that are all in a glossy finish. I like all the paintings, but considering only the finish the matte is by far the best looking.

Amazing work. No matter what people think of how Gregs work has changed or developed over the years, there is no questioning his absoultelly increadable imagination. I have no clue how he comes up with this stuff.
