Anyone else like Yumiko Kayukawa's ( www.sweetyumiko.com/ ) work? (I don't own any.. but wish i did). think she regularly sells out her shows... I assume that she's the character paintings (at least they look alot like her when I saw her at Shooting Gallery SF last year). stuff looks really nice in person... here's a few I liked from that show: and here's one i really liked from her last show at la luz de jesus

Hmm. Character looks like the women in tokidoki stuff.

yeah, there are obvious similarities... although it would be tokidoki being a knockoff of her work in a lifestyle product form. both obviously manga influenced

You've got great taste. I discovered her art just a year and a half ago, and fell in love with her work right away. So much so that I contacted her via email and even managed to get one of her smaller pieces via a gallery. Even back then, all of her art would sell-out before opening night of her shows. She's definitely my favourite contemporary artist. It also helps that she seems very genuine and modest, in spit of her success. Thanks for putting up these images; I wanted to go to the opening of her show at La Luz De Jesus, but got held up at work. BTW, the image you have up from that show is my favourite too.
And I think you're right about Tokidoki; he probably was influenced by her work. Either way, his stuff is done on a computer while Yumiko's is all hand painted.

Actually there is a older thread on her already so I moved your post here... Sometimes the search function is confusing but you have to go down and fiddle with the default settings as it only searches for the last week if you don't. From Josh Liner: I am a bit surprised there is no thread on here for Yumiko Kayukawa. Fans of Audrey, Amy and Stella would enjoy Yumiko's work, at least I know I do. Attached are a few sample images from Yumiko's upcoming solo exhibit with the gallery in July. If anyone would like to be added to the preview list please contact the gallery. Thanks. Also met her at the M Modern show she had with Matt Dangler. There are some more pics if you are interested. Here was that show thread.[/b] Yumiko and her friend/assistant were very nice people and made the drive to Palm Springs worth it.

Big fan here too. I bough my wife a Yumiko painting as a gift for Valentine's day. She's never heard of Yumiko until then, but she absolutely loves that painting.

Just discovered Yumiko's work and absolutely love it. This is a long shot but can any one translate the tattoo in her painting "Japanese Wolf"? sweetyumiko.com/?attachment_id=491
