Just got an email saying Michael Kohn showing postponed until 2013. wow... i wonder if it will ever happen, and if it does it better be epic. Mark says the work for this show is all ready. In fact, it will all be in the book that is coming out in the spring from Rizzoli, "The Gay '90s." The delay in presenting the work is due to some hiccups in Michael Kohn's plan of moving his gallery.

Nope. Looks like a screenprint on wood? Yeah, saw it at the Paul Kasmin booth I think at Basel. The girl there told me it was an old edition but I'm not sure she knew what she was talking about.

"Tyler the Creator - Wolf" album cover: I saw this the other day, and was thinking someone got Ryden's style pretty good.. I guess he got it better than I thought..

In a similar fashion to the image he used to advertise his series of YHWH series of coloured vinyls this, strictly speaking, is a Photoshop piece more than an original oil painting. The bike and figure are new additions to a series of collaged images he's nicked from other paintings he's done.
I'm not knocking it at all, I do similar things myself. This is a very nice piece although I'm not wild about the individual depicted.

I can't be 100% sure because I'm away from home and my Ryden books but he has done similar things before. The diorama design for the Tree Show for example, it's in the catalogue/book of the same name. He spliced, copied and pasted different bits of California Brown Bear to achieve the window display. Then there's this: artchival.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=artists&action=display&thread=393&page=16 Where he's stretched the background and resized the figure from YWEH. The only new painted areas are the dress and her arms/feet. This new 'painting' is a digital collage with a painted Wolf Tyler inserted. I'd bet good money on it.
