his upcoming show is gonna be amazing. lots of surprises you wouldnt expect!!! Like a canvas Giglee nicely done up in a hand-carved teak wood frame with bees? Oh, how I'd love to see the return of the Porterhouse canvas Giclee at this exhibit! Ok, probably not. But a man can dream, can't he?! And with the Hello Portfolio being released the last time he showed in Japan, I'm hoping for something nice for his collectors, who have been priced out of his original work since before the Millennium.

Oh...Anyone have an idea on the scale of the Art Basel painting? 12"x48", perhaps?

Oh...Anyone have an idea on the scale of the Art Basel painting? 12"x48", perhaps? I didn't measure it, but it was much larger than 12" x 48". I'd guess 24" x 72"...maybe closer to 30" x 80". It was very impressive in person.

Requested an image of the MOCA print framed, as I assumed it was done up super nicely like almost every framed Porterhouse edition, especially when considering the price tag. Unfortunately, I was none to impressed. Even Brad from Porterhouse suggested, it could easily be reframed if I didn't like how it was done. Why in the world would I want to put in the effort if I were planning on forking over $6k in the first place?! Seems silly to distribute something framed when you know the finished product isn't up to snuff and even mention how it could easily be reframed (at the buyers expense, of course).

Hey Lowpro, just stack another frame directly on top of that one. Find a nice deep/thick ornate frame, the outer frame must be deep enough to hold the inner frame. It would look outstanding and save you money.

Yeah, I suppose one could do that. Me, not so much. I am so far from interested in this piece, however, I can barely make it out on the horizon off in the distance. I'm a Ryden fanatic, yet this almost appeals to me less than Lincoln's Hands, a piece I've made clear doesn't float my boat. I do appreciate the serigraphic nature of the print, as I know what a great serigraph can look like in the flesh from all my years of collecting Seuss Secret Art pieces. But I don't plan on touching this one, especially at the price point. I just wanted to get the lowdown on the mouling choice for the frame job, in hopes that it might enhance the overall appeal of the piece.

I find it so very hard to dislike a piece from Ryden, but "Silence" is just so appalling (you could as well call it damn ugly ). I could not get myself to like his "Sweet Wishes" short film, either. But his painting from Art Basel truly makes up for it. What is the title, by the way? I could not find it anywhere. On Michael Kohn Gallery's site I found some interesting information. Under news it says "Publications: Mark Ryden: The Tree Show (2009)".
