I liked this print more than her other ones so I'm kind of tore up right now myself. I even took off work early just to have a chance. I like it better when she sells through galleries, I have better luck. She just too popular. Man, this art game is stressfull. ;D I'll get over it I guess.

sniff sniff. i'm such an audrey-holic, and this was truly a magnificent piece... at her show in febuary, this was my absolute favorite, to see it in person was really something else... i'm still really sad, but i know there's a flipper out there somewhere with my print... eventually, it'll pop up on the second hand market and i'll be waiting to snag it then

I will say this... I really like it that she has tried over and over again to switch things up and help out her fans in order for them to get a print. She's not obligated to do this so she earns much respect for that.

that's a great point, Mute. i don't think anything shady happened with this sale, it simply crashed, it's bound to happen with her rising popularity, and you can't please everyone all the time. my only regret is that i love her work so much... i wish i had my heart set on less desireable artwork sometimes... you were right before, this art game is highly stressful! (i'm sorry you didn't get one either masao... i can relate to feeling sick over it )

From Audrey: hello to disappointed people, ive read through all the comments and i totally understand the frustration. seeing the error message and/or being logged off must have not been so pleasant. and it totally sucks that i can't make everyone happy.. (i sincerely thank those of you who were more understanding than others.) there were 150 prints available, yet there were roughly 1500 people clicking (and plenty refreshing multiple times) - so, only 10% who will actually get them. the site and shopping cart worked perfectly, but the server timed-out for many, because of so many hits at the same moment (even though we warned the host this was coming up and they had told us was no problem). we do plan to get a dedicated server before the next sale, but we have no exact way of knowing if this will wipe out any chance of errors. some of you asked to be on a waiting list, but thats doesnt exist. all purchases have gone through and is now sold out. also i know ive been saying this for quite some time but we have been working on a postcard box set, and i can assure you that we will release it as an UNLIMITED edition this fall. it will be good to have something unlimited, as having ONLY limited editions seems to cause so much frustration for the majority.

sorry to hear some of you guys didn't get one... had my brother order one for me while I was away, he said it timed out once or twice.. but everything went though pretty smooth. a print sale that lasts for less than 2 hours is a success I say (and not just saying that because i got one)

i much rather prefer a lottery system, puts eveyone on an equally footing. if one loses, bad luck, but if one loses bc a server crashes, error msg, ppl are bashing Audrey which isn't right. i think a timed released works well if demand is < or = supply, but seems like demand is about 10 to 1 here -- a system failure was bound to happen. not only that but countless folks wouldn't be waking up at 4:45am or wasting 1 hr by a computer or disrupting plans, etc. congrats to you guys who scored!

Obviously I shouldn't have been...but I was actually surprised it was hard to get. I can still remember when Claudia and the Coelacanth sat on her site for a few weeks...and that was only a year ago. It's amazing how much her popularity has grown since then (and she was a hot commodity then, too). Even so... I never thought her prints were that tough to snag in the past, so I was amazed at the "there and gone" performance this morning. Very impressive. Congrats to everyone lucky enough to snag one.

Her popularity has just exploded in about a year. Similarly, I was waiting and waiting trying to decide which print to purchase (Mai & Mia, Horngirl, etc.) They were all sitting there idle at her site. It's the art scene that has exploded, and she emerged as one of the more popular artists.

Haha yeah i remember those good times... I think she needs to go for limited editions of 300 now. Its time to jump! How about 200 regular(w/option to frame) and maybe 50 already framed. The framed ones at Copro didn't sell out as fast maybe in part do to their price being much higher. That's what I had my heart set on because I thought the frame looked really good with the piece. I'm really curious how many people bought the framed version this time. I'm just glad I have Oiran but she needs a sister print.

I hope you guys are able to get one on the secondary market without too much bending over I'm open to a lottery system except that i know flippers will get 50 of their friends to email so they will also have a huge advantage. Plus it would be a lot more work on her part. I really think this way is the best because at least flippers can't get more than 1-2 because they are too busy refreshing the page. Perhaps charge a little more and release on ebay; their servers can handle this as evidenced by some low numbered toy releases. They won't crash but when you click right at the release time, it will just say sold out though haha. Don't know why some people on her blog are so focussed on getting a better server so no error messages.....cuz if there was not error message like on ebay, it would just say SOLD OUT!

interesting that audrey states that were around 1500 people clicking.... that recent timed edition came out as 780 or so in the edition. maybe the flippers stayed away from this one as a general rule. if you take an increase in popularity since that release to around 1000 fans, there are around 500 people in there just for the quick flip. this is the level of competion that we are talking about for this sort of release. scary.
