Finally got around to reading the new Hi-Fructose today and I'm just floored by his technique.

Ok after the preview goes live on Sunday, I will be the first to post sighs of sadness that I do not have more than 5k to spend on one of his originals. Congrats to any who can pick something up!

Ok after the preview goes live on Sunday, I will be the first to post sighs of sadness that I do not have more than 5k to spend on one of his originals. Congrats to any who can pick something up! Do you mean you don't have "more" than $5k? Or you don't have $5k? As there should still be a few works at that $5k price range. I too, however, worry they will be some of the first to go, and I think I set that as my high end for this show. I guess we shall see. At the very least, I'm excited that we'll get to see the images earlier. Really looking forward to checking out this body of work as a whole. And to further illustrate Chris' "collage" technique and in helping to convey what they might look like in the flesh and how each character and creature is comprised of multiples upon multiples layered upon one another, here are a couple detail images Kirsten emailed over to me today.

Thanks Lowpro! There will be about 4 that are just under 5k. I'm sorry- but when you see these you will understand why they are priced the way they are- they are VERY detailed and intricate. Frankly they are astonishing. We didn't raise the price on his work for this show so it's in accordance to what his sell out shows in Europe go for.

His works are definitely priced fairly. His technique and execution are just something I have never seen before and I was hoping to be one of the lucky few who could purchase something for that price. But with Christmas and other buys that have to be prioritised, I will continue to watch and admire him in 2009. I will be able to get something from Jaski, but I also wanted something small from his first American show. Heh, greedy, sorry.

I think there are those books with the teeny inset paintings inside available at Jaski...they are great- I have one myself.

oh man...that is one incredible show. There are 8 pieces I would love to buy, except the total of $68k for all of them makes my Amex shake his head sternly!
Set, Riders of the Storm and Blue Days are my favorites.
Would love some of his works as lithographs, even if they were $1000, I would buy a few. Gorgeous!

The body of work in this preview is like nothing I've ever seen... I'm awestruck. Devours, you do know that Jaski Gallery has lithographs available of "Heaven on their Minds," "On a Midnight Voyage" and "Cornucopia"? They're a little pricey, but I think they're in your ballpark. www.jaski.nl/Kunstenaars/ChrisBerens/Grafiek/tabid/452/Default.aspxPersonally, I would give my left arm for a lithograph of "First Snow (Guide Me Home)."

Beautiful stuff I remember the first time Kirsten blogged this fella's work, . . .I was enthralled. Can't say enough about it. I've always loved the "magic trick" in art. I like the mysterious technical aspects of his work, . . .it reminds me of the buzz that used to go along with Maxfield Parrish's work, . . . we all kind of know how he did it, but his methodology is still somewhat of a mystery when you see his work in person, . . .I hope to catch these things in person before the show goes down, . . .I might have to make a trip to Seattle

I'll be heading up there for this show... you should come to the opening! I seriously considered altering my flight plans for that weekend, as I fly into LAX on 12/13, to try and make it up there. But alas, I'll just have to wait until the painting I bought gets shipped to me, pending I can pull it off, to finally see his work in person. There will be few paintings in my collecting career that I will be anticipating more. Can't wait....ha...which is brutal, as the show hasn't even opened yet.

Couple of the prices have some typos, though I'd gladly take Royal Transport for $11.00 or Glad You Could Make it for $1700.

This board has opened me up to so many new artists Indeed. But with respect to Chris, I want to thank Kirsten personally and publicly for exposing myself, and this community as a whole, to him. I doubt I would've ever come in contact with his work if it weren't for you importing him to your gallery from Amsterdam. I wish nothing more than to have been able to see view this show in it's entirety in person, but am eternally grateful that I'll have one heading my way when the show concludes! So, thank you to my fellow Sagittarius!!
