some interesting perspectives in this thread about these new editions. from the images, i feel that these are her strongest editions yet. personally i like them much more than than the plate distortion series. i slept on it and ending up getting one. most expensive 'print' i've ever bought so i had to take a moment. nice not to have to rush into the decision though... hope it lives up to expectations when i see it! Sven, I agree, these are one of her most visually arresting (no pun intended) works that is affordable (subjective I know as we all have different views on what is affordable.), especially considering anyone wanting a fold painting will easy have to pay north of six figures to get one. So this will have to do for me until I hit the Powerball. I also like the fact that she achieved a similar affect of her fold imagery by using a completely different technique. Shows that she has made a commitment to this visually alluring direction as part of her repertoire. Also shows that she has command of the this type of imagery and that she can arrive at a similar goal using a completely different vehicle. This is why IMHO that I think she is a talented artist. Someone mentioned that the moire technique has been used before, (I could be mistaken) but I don't think Moire/Mesh technique it's been used to create a unique imagery on the level/direction that Tauba has taken it. (if so, I would love a link for comparison). Think silkscreening being around before Warhol & Spots/Dots before Hirst and see where they took it to. I'll stay out of the tiered pricing discussion as I can see both sides. Finally, for all transparency, I would like to say that I did buy this happily and readily the moment I found out about it. I'm very looking forward to getting them in hand to see with my own eyes. I plan to can hang and display them asap.

These are lovely in person. They look equally intriguing from different distances. It was very difficult to decide which to pick. (I wish I was in a position to get more than one) The grey (purple and green plates) one spoke loudest to me and I can't wait to hang it on my wall. Her commitment to process and the research and methodology that goes into much of her work continue to impress me. I purchased "Yes Or No And/Or Yes and No" which I love every time I look at it. I regretted not pulling the trigger on one of the plate distortion prints, and although this is not a small purchase for me I know I will be happy with my decision. I do think the idea of moires tie nicely into the her body of work past and present. In traditional printing it is generally the unwanted effect cause by overlapping screens. yet she has elevated it in a stunning and interesting way. Much like the folds it is making the 2-D image dance and play tricks on the eyes. Paulson created some smaller scale work with artist Shaun O'Dell that created a Moire pattern using intersecting hard ground lines that are also quite beautiful www.paulsonbottpress.com/artists/odell_shaun/heed-blue-gold.html

while on the subject of Moire. and in lockstep with the Tauba release. This artist has a current exhibition at Leo Koenig. Anoka Faruquee mods can feel free to move this to her own thread. I figured this may be a relative place to put it right now though with the recent conversation, etc.

whenever the topic goes into moire and whatnot, I always feel the need to bring up Carsten Nicolai. Amazing artist, both visually and as Alva Noto.

Initially I listed that this could in fact have its own thread at the bottom of my post. I started a thread for her as well so now everyone can celebrate wherever they want

hmmm.. i think she's losing me a bit. folded paper? is that what i'm looking at here? imperfectly folded at that. i think that's what i don't like about it. maybe i'll find something else to spend my 120K on.

wow! that is a solid result for her woven canvas work (and good fundraising for the whitney). my guess is a quality fold painting of comparable size would sell closer to 2x. on another note, [2,3] is up to $650 now ( printedmatter.org/catalogue/moreinfo.cfm?title_id=90374) - which still seems very reasonable. Indeed. Sold: $425k Estimate: 50,000 - 70,000 USD
