Not sure why I haven't gotten into his work until now. Thought I would start a thread.

The colors that Cleon Peterson uses are quite striking. I like the painting above much better than some of the more violent ones of people beating the crap out of one another in forests from the White Walls show last year. www.whitewallssf.com/gallery.php?artist_id=80#I suppose scenes of drunkeness, theft, drug dealing and vomiting are much more to my liking than violence ;D Sleepyboy, really digging the amount of pinkish red Cleon is using in the piece you posted from the Group Show @ Josh Liner, the city scenes at the White Walls show were more heavy in their use of black: Not sure why I haven't gotten into his work until now. Thought I would start a thread.

Although Cleon's work is a bit "in your face" with the overly-hyper violence and the bright colors I do find it compelling - not sure if it's intended to be a comment or not on how desensitized we've become to violence as it is so pervasive in our every day lives. Anyway, here's another photo of my two:

I have really loved Cleon's work for a while. As previously said it is definitely not for everyone, the subject matter can be a bit intense but I still love it. The piece we have in the group show was really well received and was picked up right away. We will have more work from Cleon in the next few months as well as exhibiting his work in Miami at the Scope art fair this December.

I love Cleon Peterson's work and I'm fortunate to own a painting. I also really like his brother's photography.

Got a chance to check out his work in person down in Miami. Really great stuff! Almost went home with a print from the Library Street Collective show in Wynwood.

I like that. I'd grown bored of the endless cycle of murder, violence and death but this figure in isolation is prouder, more Greco-Roman, classical. Any idea on price?

Also, don't you wish people would learn when to use the word 'unique'..?

So there are three different sculpts, each with three different colorways (white, black, gold) ranging from $1500 -$2500 in an edition of 10 each. Black and white of the single figure one sold out.
