I thought Court would be the one to start this thread, but JJ's new painting posted on his blog (http://www.processrecess.com) inspired me to start it myself. I'm really looking forward to his show at J.Levine in 2009. Here's a gorgeous piece he recently finished for the show: and here's the drawing I have from him:

He is in my opinion one of the most talented artists out there at the moment. I'm also surprised that I didn't start this thread a long time ago. That new piece is almost as good as the painting your drawing is of. I think I already told you this but nice snag on that one because it is one of his better pieces.

Actually, I'm kind of surprised I didn't start this thread, too! James sent me a scan of that painting a few days ago, and I really like it. I like the brighter, happier color palette he used on that one, which is in stark contrast with most of his recent gallery work. I look forward to seeing the rest of the show...though I'm a bit worried about what the pricing will be like. I'm at the top of the list for that show...and hopefully I can take advantage of it.
Mute: Just FYI, there is no painting for Caroline's piece...the final published artwork was completed in Photoshop.

Saw these on Teddy T's blog - Popdrawer. Pretty clever.

That's a beautiful print, one of my favorite pieces of his work. I'm a bit surprised with the edition size, though...seems a bit large to me.

This just makes me think of Superbad. God I loved that part, I couldn't stop laughing.

Huge fan of James Jean and he's such a nice guy to chat with.
I have all of the issues of Fables that he has done covers for as well as the Process Recess portfolio that the above print serves as the cover to. Excellent book at an incredible price.

I wouldn't let that stop you, most of his prints are open editions. Here's another pic I actually used to own the OA to that piece. It was originally done as a potential box set album cover for Panic! at the Disco...but they decided to go with a text-only design instead (dumb!). Anyway, here's a site I created to collect his illustration and comics work if you feel like checking out more of his stuff: www.jjeanius.netBest, Court

His show has sold amazingly well... So much for a slow market. I guess it goes to show that people are willing to buy but only for select artists. I will be more focused in 2009 as well. We posted up a nice little interview with James Jean about his new show if you are interested.

not a huge fan of hte abstract stuff, though Jungle is my favorite (next to Horsey, which isn't in this show). The sketches, though, are all very nice. Seem like a good deal, too.

I actually think james is gifted and agree that horsey was a wonderful piece, I was little miffed that somebody stole this from me at the auction but you win one lose many at those....I like jungle and mer I personally feel fine arts wise the abstracts may rise higher than his other work over time.....These were the ones that I was waiting for may have to look at Jungle for my collection....

Amazing how one goes from illustration, to comic covers, to Prada bags and now to fine art. His journey certainly has been an eventful one.

Pretty much every single piece looks better in person...which is saying something, since I already thought so highly of the preview images! A very special show to say the least...
