As per popular request, there is now an ignore button under each person's profile/icon when you look their posts. You will see these icons most likely: Click the face with the x where the mouth should be. This is reversible if you so wish. Also, I believe if you delete the cookies from your computer, you will have to re-ignore the people you clicked on. Unfortunately, I believe there are some people you can't ignore, like me and the mods I will not be using the ignore button personally though if that makes you feel any better.

If this is reversible...............you didn't tell us how to get rid of these stupid smiley faces. We are NOT children on this site so nobody should be allowed to ignor anybody else !! If you don't want to read someone's post .....DON'T CLICK ON IT !!

ahhh, but the problem is, a lot of people view this forum by clicking the 'last 100 posts' button. artchival.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=recentIf someone is posting over and over in quick succession it pushes everyone elses posts off the list hope that makes sense

robert, you seem to be irritating a lot of people with your posts of late. the ignore button is there for people who wish to ignore the posts from ANY member on this forum (except the mods and admin, as you are all stuck with our babbling). as droow rightly says, a lot of people use the 100 posts function to keep tabs on the forum, and when that 100 posts consists of a lot of links from posts such as the ones you make, i guess it can irritate people as it deflects from the conversational tone that the forum largely enjoys. whilst your links may be interesting, they currently don't seem to add much to the flow of conversation on this 'discussion' forum. perhaps i can suggest that rather than publish your rather factual and sometimes very interesting posts as you currently do in the form of statements and notes, that you make them more conversational? i think this may make the general interaction of the people that use this forum more participatory with your posts. maybe i can also suggest that you post the information and relevant images directly here on the forum itself rather than provide what can seem to be an endless stream of links? i know that i for one regularly browse the forum on my iphone, and i don't even think about hitting links... i'm not trying to stifle you or censor your contributions here, but am offering some friendly advice that may make the time you spend on the forum more enjoyable both for you and also the other users of the forum too. the smiley faces you seem to have a problem with in another post can be used to convey the written word and put in into the context and infer a certain 'tone' to the typed words. irony anyone? again, i find it helps conversation, but that's just my opinion. i think that we will be keeping the smiley faces, and we'll also be keeping the ignore button unless it's removal is requested by a large number of members i hope you read this post with the good nature it intends to you. MESSAGE FOR__svenman ____________________
Yes, I did read your every word and appreciate the time spent constructing such a considerate response ( your reply #4 on this thread ). Your thoughts make me think.....so, you know I'm going to shake it around in my head for the next few days. Every suggestion from one person always alters the other person in some way. Thanks for the critique and wish you the best with other members you deal with every day on this site. Hope we all grow with time spent on this content-rich website. It's one of the very best on the entire internet !! ____________________________________________________ Signed: Robert Singletary__Saturday October 9, 2010__1:05 A.M. (eastern standard time) USA

NOW what button do I hit to ignore Hungs amazing collection, or is there a button that will turn my medicore collection into his? There such a button, but unfortunately it can lead to some serious jail time. And I don't think that they would allow you to bring your art so it would be useless.

I would never click the IGNORE BUTTON for any member here ....or.....on any other website !!!
WHY ??? Well, if I did it I would only be hurting myself. Everyone comes up with a stroke of genius every now and then. I don't want to miss out on anything I can learn from in any way, shape, or form. Basically, it's a very immature act that shows a person would rather put on blindfolders than face reality. We are NOT children here .......so, I wish a lot of folks would stop pretending to be 10 year olds. Even if I hated some member with a passion .....I still wouldn't click the ignore button.
* The ignore button is RUDE at the very least and at the most it's a form of FASCIST CENSORSHIP !! ( plain and simple !! ).

The Ignore button is a vital tool for my artchival enjoyment. Why I may only have one or two people on Ignore I have noticed that when I log off I tend to unignore the person. I do not agree with it being a child like act, i do however see misspelling ignore to be somewhat childlike. Either way I love the ignore button, it helps when I click on a post and do not have to scroll down an entire paged filled with posts and links to various youtube clips which may not pertain directly to the post at hand.

I agree with you highbrow. The ignore button is a great tool as is the [ Exalt | Smite ] feature (which seems to have no effect on some people).

I've used the ignore buttone only once to hide the random youtube and website links that were popping up. It makes the top 100 content much better.

It should be "View the 100 most recent posts of this forum" under the forum statistics section on the left.
