More folks are paying attention to the growing Los Angeles contemporary art scene. Looks like there's going to be a east coast/west coast rivalry of a different sort brewing. I think it's going to get a lot more attention once Matthew Marks opens, the Broad museum becomes a fixture on Grand Ave, and the LA art fairs start becoming successful. I still wish there were auctions here though. I think what will end up happening is that more NYC galleries will start heading over. Deitch always had an eye on LA before he became director of MOCA. Gladstone isn't here, I think, because Regen Projects is already. And even though not a NYC gallery, I think Hauser & Wirth will probably be in LA soon. Interesting. So, the Armory is coming to LA? Nice.
