Guess I was too slow on the Keyes piece. I actually got home earlier and caught the email less than two mins of it hitting my inbox. The piece was already sold. So I presume it was held back for someone in particular or listed for a slip second to cover bases of availability and then marked as sold..which is perfectly fine. I'd argue Greg or a close friend or family member of his or the gallery had more of a right to it than the general public. I wasn't interested in the piece really, even though seeing the list price now made it a bit more appealing. But I did inquire whether it would be available on a first come first serve basis and was assured it would be included in the webstore. I'd be interested to hear if anyone caught the email right at 4:30 when it was issued and actually saw it available to add to cart. I trust it's gone to a good home. Regardless, I have to say the execution of Tony Curanj piece is impeccable. Hot damn can that guy paint. On a sidenote, I can understand why Retna has hung up his conventional painting and gone in the typographic direction. That piece is really really bad.

I saw the email pretty much right after it arrived but i didnt exactly rush to see the keyes piece so who knows? I suppose that someone could have grabbed it up immediately but my impression was that it was already sold - which kinda makes sense considering his waitlist.

I was not surprised to see that this piece sold since it was a rare chance to not only get a Keyes but spend less than 10k since it was a smaller image.

This piece sold before the online preview went out... So much for "we don't do waitlists," first come first serve. The general public had no chance at getting this piece. no doubt. the keyes piece was priced low though by the looks of it. 5k. wonder why that was? ?? june 2009 sprout show 18x24 pieces were 5.5k. this one was 19.5x24, and demand is much higher now than then.... i'd hazard a guess the availability issue and the pricing issue are connected. curanaj is a seriously talented painter walt. not feeling his piece for this show though, but then i'm not feeling most of them - even the keyes. i'm bored to tears of theme shows and wish we could just put the whole episode behind us. here you go zog anyway.... nineteeneightyeight.com/la/xinlex.html

Thanks to Sven and Epic for the link.
I can't help feeling I missed out. I would have loved the Travis Louie piece but it was gone before I could view it.
Got to say that the Chet Zar piece is just the business.

the execution of Tony Curanj piece is impeccable. Hot damn can that guy paint. I actually had a chance to met Tony last year in Croatia, at a graffiti festival.. after a nice chat with him (really nice guy too), I went to check his paintings online, and thought at first I found the wrong Tony Curanaj.. I just couldn't believe that a guy that does old skool graffiti could be such a good painter.. btw, anyone know what's the deal with Bill McEvoy and Greg Rodriguez piece!?.. Craola wrote on his blog "Bill McEvoy and Greg Rodriguez stole the show with not only a great piece, but trust me, you have to see it in person. Take my word for it, go to the gallery, ask for a pair of the glasses that were left there for the piece and prepare to be amazed."
