Jacub just posted a photo of his nearly finished piece: the execution seems to be better than ever, and I just LOVE the concept of the x-ray books...

Jacob's work has a wonderful wealth of wit and playfulness. It would be interesting to see his subject matter on a different colored background (I should talk), I think a colored background would work well to support and help accentuate the feeling and ideas conveyed. It would lift it out of the dark Baroque and into the light of the rococo. Just my 2 cents. His work is refreshing, especially when the air seems full of Beethoven these days, its nice to hear a little Mozart. I am really excited to see how his work evolves, it seems he has just scratched the surface. Jacob if you happen to read this, hats off to you.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments. Josh, that was a very thoughtful post and it means a lot coming from an artist as established as you are. Your work speaks volumes and I have been very impressed recently myself with how your work manages to inspire. I've never really considered a different colour background but that pin-up on the hippo is a nice touch . Thanks again!

I love how Jacob uses his subjects. Every time I share with friends, his work seems to just click with them. I like the more whimiscal pieces like Keeper of Keys and Cakes and Ladders (might be a bit partial in that one). We should all get "team Jacub" shirts made. Please do not smite for the Twilight reference- I couldn't help it.

since this one wasn't shared here yet, and things seem to be quite silent on JG front, here is in-progress shot of his piece for the Wild at Heart Charity show at Thinkspace:

Many thanks to Jacub for allowing us to do this and to Static Medium for pulling out the stops this week to help us get these printed up in time for this weekend.

I love Jacub's piece for "Wild at Heart"- I use to raise lops and he's captured them perfectly. It's so awesome to offer this mini print with the donations going to Born Free USA. They are a great org that deserves support. Hope everyone from the board takes advantage of this- I nearly wish I was closer to L.A.

for those that might have missed, here is a message from Jacub's Facebook fanpage: ****CONTEST**** Hey everyone, I thought it would be fun to hold a small contest as I've yet to do one! This drawing needs a 'title', so over the next week anyone who is a 'facebook fan' can submit a name and the winner will take this drawing home! Please no more than 3 entries per person. Best of luck! www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Art-by-Jacub-Gagnon/263570417425
