rodrigo luff's work has caught my eye recently so I wanted to share with the board and kick off a thread for him.
fresh off of his participation in the Lined in Lead group show at Gallery Nucleus as well as his solo show at Phone Booth gallery in Long Beach, Rod Luff will be wrapping up his inaugural US tour at the new Spoke Art in San Francisco with a great looking collection of framed works from his "moleskin project".
i love the way these sketchbook works are framed with the pieces on the back visible from behind the frame.
from the Spoke Art gallery site:
"Spoke Art is proud to present the work of Australian artist Rod Luff in the San Francisco stop on Luff’s inaugural US tour. Entitled, “The Moleskine Project”, Luff”s introductory body of work is an insightful glimpse into the evolution and growth of an emerging artist at one of the most formative stages of his career. The concept is simple, to fill an entire Moleskine notebook from cover to cover within the course of a year, however it is this simplicity in and of itself that is the true test, becoming an exercise in diligence, with oftentimes very impressive results.
A combination of miniature oil paintings, sketches, notes, doodles, and studies, the Moleskine Project brings to light Luff’s conceptual underpinnings and creative inspirations in an accessible and affordable exhibit of original art. Come join us May 5th to welcome Luff to San Francisco.
Spoke Art Gallery
816 Sutter Street (at Jones), San Francisco
Opening reception is Thursday, May 5th, 6pm-10pm, artist will be in attendance.
