perhaps i'm a sucker for a well edited trailer (not even that this one's that good), as i've always been fascinated by the capacity for the condensing a two hour movie into two mins to really stir the emotions and make a good movie look great or a crappy movie look good. perhaps i loved the book and the original film so much that i'm bound to love this regardless of it being anything to write home about. or maybe this looks just dark and artsy enough, yet with a bigger budget, that it'll be even more up my alley.
needless to say, i am no longer a skeptic and am officially on board for this being very good, if not as good as the swedish version. i guess it was hard not to be excited with fincher at the helm, with confidence that he'd only be able to add something rather than detract from the original. but this actually makes me look forward to it, whereas i was ambivalent prior to this footage. prob just buying into the hype and the fact that i've been eager to see some shots of rooney mara as lisbeth. gotta love "the feel bad movie of christmas" tag line too. gimmicky, if not clever marketing at it's finest.

Thanks for the heads-up Walt - Tara's going to shit when she gets home! I bought her a NOOK e-reader for one of her B'day presents in April and put "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" on it as her first e-book - she loved it! Poster looks killer too... Jim

hot damn. hadn't seen that. thanks. yet another brilliantly marketing move to entice those that were skeptical. sex it up.
amazing that she played zuckerberg's sweat exgirlfriend in social network. when they first broke the news that she'd be playing lisbeth, i had a hard time seeing her transform for this roll. but that prob had more to do with the image of noomi rapace's version of her in my head, who just killed that role. clearly fincher saw something during the shooting of that opening scene, which her and eisenberg apparently had to reshoot hundreds upon hundreds of times to get right. fincher is a nut.

I saw the Swedish version. It was okay. But, I think reading the book ruins it a little because there are so many twists and turns. I would say, try not to read the book first. But, brilliant books...
Also, I know the main character is supposed to look alternative but I wish they made her a little more attractive as that would have made it more believable... But, maybe my ideas of beauty are not the same as others.
That trailer certainly makes it look like a badass film. Looks more "scary" than the Swedish version too.

Hm... hard to comment without ruining the plot for some people but I think the portrayals was good. Just that if she was more attractive, it would have made some parts of the movie and book more believable.

If it's played right, her magnetism comes from within, from who she is, rather than how she looks.

I am not sure what would have been made more believable by her being super attractive, but that is just me.

*Some possible spoilers in the following comment*
Yeah, I never said she had to be super attractive (I read the all the books) but I don't think she was supposed to be completely physically unattractive either. There were multiple people attracted to her apparently because of her inner beauty in the books but I guess that didn't come across well in the movies (for me at least). I mean there's one part written in the book where she is supposed to be in disguise and where she becomes very physically attractive and I just didn't see it happen at all that way in the movie.
So, I think it's just my personal bias. Maybe others found the actress and the way she came across in the movie attractive enough to make it believable, or maybe they saw the inner beauty that I didn't. It's easier to portray inner beauty when you are writing about it for sure. And, there were several characters motivated by these feelings for her in the books so it was important.
All in all, looking forward to the new adaptation and also hope the family of the author can resolve their differences so that there can be more books in the series.

"Super" was a bit much since you never said that. Sorry about that. ;D Yeah, I don't know, I found her attractive. I think on the other side I had more problems with Bloomquist. I had no idea why basically every woman he met was falling all over themselves for him. That was less believable to me. *Some possible spoilers in the following comment*Yeah, I never said she had to be super attractive (I read the all the books) but I don't think she was supposed to be completely physically unattractive either. Oh yes, I think they should have gotten a more attractive actor for Bloomquist too haha. Also expected Erika Berger to be more hot. LOLs, guess my imaginations ran wild when reading the books and I thought these people were more attractive than they were in the movie.

not bad but you should be nudging hh more than i based on his qualms with the original not having a sexy enough actress in the mix. find this hard to believe it's legit tho and not photoshoped by someone with some decent skills. some things look off. it doesn't look a like a paper clip in the nipple and they've been pushed back thus reducing he resolution a bit. plus it's not like any theater would be able to hang them. who knows.

Well, apparently its the real-deal studio poster as Fincher intended...many articles written about it today. You guys are into this? I thought the original movie was pretty boring and cliche, and that US trailer is horrible -- it's not a promo, it's an assault. I haven't read the books, I feel like anything that popular can't be any good.
