Saw this interesting article on Michael Mararian's blog today. Isn't it sad how an artist realizes that even if he sues, he will probably lose because the company that is stealing his work is so big and rich. This reminds me of when Kozyndan's work was stolen by Sony with this ad about the Bravia. The part where the artist in the article was asked by an ad company to use his video is so familiar. These ad companies are so brazen to use work from artists that they have actually contacted before just like Kozyndan. Here's what Kozyndan said: "Its hard to think that people at Passion Pictures did not have this early panoramic of ours in mind when they created this new spot for the SONY Bravia line. To add insult to injury, someone from Passion Pictures contacted us almost two years ago asking to see samples of our work (including this panoramic) as they were interested in working with us. We sent them samples and then heard nothing from them ever again. (It should be noted though, that the more likely culprit is the ad firm who hired Passion Pictures, Fallon) Still, its a clever ad." Here's a frame from the adHere's kozyndan's panoramic Have you guys seen any of this from artists you like? Here's an awesome site I go to every now and then called "you thought we wouldn't notice."

Yes, I do. I thought it was his work when I first saw your post. They're still kind of cool.

The fact that the bottom piece is called Thunder as well is pretty ridiculous.

Does anybody know more about intellectual property and have some suggestions for further reading? Also I am wondering if there are any attorneys out there who have worked on behalf of the artists.
