This is a terrible idea, and hopefully one that will never come to fruition. Reading through the promotional literature it seems nothing more than a vanity project for Tristan Eaton. These forts have an eery beauty about them as they are. To paint them trivialises what they represent, and completely undermines their role as a historical reminder of war. My family come from but to far away, and this is not something that has be welcomed by local people, nor hugely encouraged. It is nothing more than cultural vandalism. You only have to read the Kickstarter piece to see how commercial a venture it is. Preserving & protecting the forts, in a sympathetic fashion is utterly laudable. Getting Shep Fairey amongst others to paint one if his trite pieces on the side anything but.
