Seeing what he has to offer for SDCC reminds me that I should have bought some of his paintings a long long time ago.

yeh he is definitely one of my favorite painters. I rarely see any of his works for sale, unless I just don't know where to look.

There are periodically some of his drawings on ebay, but I have never seen one of his paintings.

Seeing what he has to offer for SDCC reminds me that I should have bought some of his paintings a long long time ago. Why do you say that? Just cause you like his work and it should be in your collection by now? Or cause his stuff is expensive? I've sent him a handful of emails either requesting a commission or asking him to point me in the direction of a venue where I could purchase an original painting, and I have yet to receive a response to one. I have no idea what an original piece would cost, however.

I have no idea what an original piece would cost, however. I've been a fan for several years also. I have a small framed poster of "Robots and Rich B1tches" which was given out for free at SDCC a few years ago. It was briefly available for $15 on his website as well. At SDCC back in 2006 (the last time I attended), one vendor was selling original Ashley Wood paintings (on paper). Price tags were like $9000. At that moment, I knew there was no hope: I'd never own anything by him except comic books. I've seen original drawings on eBay range from about $300 to $1200. I have seen an awesome painting of his on eBay recently, but the price was about $5000. I guess that's a better price than what I saw at Comic Con. For a few years he sold a few giclee prints on Amazon Zshops for about $85. I assumed they'd always be available. Now I regret never having purchased even one...

What I meant was everytime I see his stuff I make a mental note to look into getting a piece but then since he never frequents the websites/galleries I go to, I just end up forgetting until I see his stuff again...

I love the poster that he had released a few months ago... Wish that I had funds for an original.

man I will never forget going to a little comic book shop back in 2002, and seeing Wood's work from the first time with the Automatic Kafka series. Simply mind blowing stuff. I started snatching up all the comics he did art for. I wish I wasn't such a poor college student at the time or I would have loved to grab an original because he has sky rocketed out of my price range.
and If there are any comic book fans on here I highly suggest the 9 issue Automatic Kafka series. Joe Casey's writing is incredible and goes perfectly with Wood's art. Its so sad that it didn't go on longer.

Every time I see his work I am amazed. How do you purchase his work though? I am not familiar with any of the galleries he sells with and I have only seen a couple of prints over the past couple of years.

I haven't seen that many shows, I think mostly at comic-con maybe? I do know however that Ashley Wood and Jeremy Geddes will be showing together at Jonathan LeVine in 2012.

I think they are affordable. You can get a pretty nice sized piece for less than 10K, not sure the exact prices x sizes though. Scott Eder is the one that usually sells his stuff so probably more info there if you are interested: www.scottedergallery.com/
