Guess there isn't a thread for him. Here are some photos of him getting ready for his show this weekend at Anno Domini

Here's a studio visit previewing his Dark Light show: www.flickr.com/photos/mistersmith_22/sets/72157627093452370/And a one-night showing of some huge Waiters on paper that he eventually wheatpasted up in SF/Oakland: www.flickr.com/photos/mistersmith_22/sets/72157627093730044/I'm hoping to get to San Jose this weekend for the show at Anno Domini...we'll see. I have pics somewhere of his show about a year ago at Sandra Lee Gallery in SF, but for some reason they're not on my Flickr. One of my favorite images is still avilable as a print at 5 Pieces Gallery, but "unfortunately" at a rather small size... They're smallish but they do look good...check Brett's site, too, last time I was over he had some stuff that's not at 5 Pieces.

This Anno Domini show really is a game changer for how I think about Brett. I've long been impressed by his work, but was kind of on the fence in terms of my level of excitement. This show is wonderful stuff. The composition and deep perspective, the minimalist, milky palette, the isolated loneliness of the lone figure in an environment that is both uncertain in its milky rendering but also familiar with an mix of ambiguous references to ubiquitous city and country landscapes.

New article just posted on Huff about Brett Amory: "When it comes to the personal acquisition of art, I believe it is necessary that the work be engaging on several levels; the work has to be emotionally engaging, historically and/or culturally significant and livable. The artist's trajectory also has to be such that the work is, and will continue to be, collectible, i.e., a good investment. It is rare that I come across a contemporary artist whose body of work so completely meets my criteria for what makes a great investment piece. Brett Amory, a resident of the Bay Area in California is one such artist." ~Mia R. Benenate, Huffington Post www.huffingtonpost.com/mia-r-benenate/the-amory-show_b_974181.htmlThe "White Light" exhibit at A.D. is the 2nd of a 3 part consciously connected series: "Dark Light" at Levine Gallery, "White Light" at Anno Domini and "Ethereal Light" at Lazrides. www.galleryad.com/art/archives/art/backroom/brett_amory_white_light/

Being a bit addicted to Instagram - T23TGS if you want to have a look/follow - I checked Brett's photos out which has led me to look harder at his work. Amazing stuff! I'm not sure how I've not been more aware of his work. Any news on future shows etc?

All the pics he's posting right now are of works destined for LA.
