i plan on getting a craola commission... before isaac graduates from college I'd been on his list waiting for years, but the last time I checked on where I was, his wife/mgr told me to not count on ever getting it and just getting something from a show.

Sleepboy: is that Tessar commission on Rives BFK paper?

hey creep, (sorry i don't know your name) . to answer your question, that commission is on stonehenge paper. it is another type of printmaking paper that i have recently "gone back" to. i do have a lot of work on bfk rives though, and most recently, 300lb hot press watercolour paper.
still, i can't find anything that treats my application better than the stonehenge paper.

A commission in progress from Tessar. Love it. Doesn't seeing it in progress ruin the fun of a commission? Beyond the initial concept sketch, I always leave it entirely in the hands of the artist and specifically request not to see anything before it's completed. The anticipation and surprise at that time is one of the greatest elements of commission projects, in my opinion. Plus, I've found that over-influence on the part of the patron tends to hinder the potential for the piece.

In fact it builds my anticipation Yah, I don't try to give too much direction because the artist probably will hate my guts lol.

In fact it builds my anticipation Yah, I don't try to give too much direction because the artist probably will hate my guts lol. hmm...Very interesting. I've done it both ways and found that it was way more enjoyable and fulfilling without getting any progress reports along the way. Definitely much harder, but worth the wait. And indeed, very true..Over-coaching has the affect of smothering the artistic process and invariably makes it seem more like work...which is never a good thing with art. It seems, many artists are so reluctant these days to take on commissions as a direct result of negative experiences with collectors who provided way too much guidance, thus squashing any fun the artist would have on the project. It's imperative for the artist is to be as excited about the potential piece as the patron. Hence, aside from a few vague compositional recommendations, I take a hands-off approach and let the artist dictate the details. Odds are, the end result will be much stronger if an environment where there is room to play is fostered.

wow... I really love that Tessar Lo piece. The blues and oranges work so harmoniously... complimentary colors at their best. Subtle design/composition. Must have been a challenge to get such an oversized tiger to have such a warm, calm, approachable feel... beautiful. I would definitely be proud to hang that piece on my wall.

If everything works out... 1. Faile original or crate 2. Kawasaki original 3. Obey original 4. Stella5. Murakami prints I suppose two out of five isn't too bad. 1. Definitely priced out of Faile now, especially the new work. 3. Priced out of the larger pieces I would like. 5. Jellyfish Eyes - Black is what I'm lusting after.

My fantasy list for this year would be
A nice Kawasaki OG Sylvia Ji OG Greg Simkins OG Melissa Forman OG Johnathan Viner OG
Unfortunately I'm extremely picky about what I buy, and the pieces I want always get sold before it gets to be my turn... plus I don't exactly have the capital to get everything I want either. If I can get two of the above, I'll probably end up extremely happy.

"Congratulations, you have won the Q for Shanghai Bunny Boy. HOLY SHIT. MY GF IS GOING TO KILL ME. " and "$10k. It's on the previous page. This is definitely going to be my final purchase of the year. Now I gotta figure out what to sell. " LOL
