Just curious with the Halloween Holiday around the corner, for those in the states do you get any kids coming by to trick or treat, and if so do you go healthy treats or non healthy treats?
This year as I have been working on a paper for class ( and waiting for the A.S.S ) I have not had time, but the wife handled the Treat part of the trick or treat this year. She went with both a healthy option and a non healthy ( I explained to her good chance she will be packing small bags of trail mix in her lunch after the holiday ) She seems to think the children would rather a lovely small bag of trail mix over a kitkat bar or peanut butter cup shaped like a pumpkin.. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

Yeah, I have a funny feeling she'll be eating that trail mix too. I ended up at Cost-co buying full sized bars for the kids in our neighborhood. It was always such a treat for me as a child when you had those nice folks on the block with the good stuff...as opposed to that stinker giving out pennies or fruit snacks.
Reese, Snickers, Kit Kats, Milky Ways, Twix, M&M's, Skittles, and Starbursts all day long....

being motivated by you JB I also headed to BJ's ( same as cost-co ) and picked up the full size bars, told her this morning to take the large bowl of crappy trail mix and other candies to her office today..

My husband bought the mix bag with starburst, lemon heads, twizzler and stuff like that- he doesn't like chocolate very much so he picked out things he would like leftovers of.

Yeah, I think a lot of people do this. It's not necessarily wrong...but it's nice to consider the kids in your neighbourhood too. Mine like the Kit-Kat bars.

So far not too many treaters this year. I think it is because it is a Monday. How does everyone set up? I sit on my front porch to minimize my doggies' anxiety.

Sadly we had only 4 kids ( thanks to the monster rain storm, floods and so on ) but the last two kids were from two doors down, which means they hit the candy jackpot as my wife is on a vegan diet and I am not big on chocolate either...

ha - funny enough it's only 8:30 here ATM and we still have two massive bowls, so there will be a kid here shortly that is going to hit the candy jackpot too.

Most Kids don't go Trick or Treating anymore around here. I live in the Bible Belt and I wouldn't get into the whole explanation about it, but we always have all our candy left over at the end of the night, But there is a Christmas store that stays open all year round. It stinks ,Halloween was always my favorite holiday . Hope everyone had a great time last night.

HAHAHAHA... That's classic highbrow. Way to step up! We only had a few kids in our neighborhood though. It seems like more and more people are keeping their kids in for Halloween parties or taking them to the community park trick or treat parties. I'm sure the idea of kids running around in the streets after dark has something to do with it. Times have changed; my parents used to let me take off for hours and collect a pillow sack worth of candy. lol

NapArt, I recall also as a child we lived in an apartment complex and being turned loose for hours on end. So much so we would change customs and make second passes. Heavens forbid the day fell on a saturday or friday..
On a side note my parents went trick or treating with my brother and his family, my nephew dressed as Billy the exterminator ( he is 4 ) and his sister as a large bug ( she is 11 ) . My mom said when people asked who he was he would explain then proceed to ask if they had cockroaches and playfully smack his sister with a nerd bat. About half the people tried to explain to him killing isn't "christian like" welcome to the south I told my parent. ( Bytor gotta love the bible belt )
