Creating a benchmark for myself: Hernan Bas (may not be realistic for demand and financial reasons-- can anyone help?) Angel Ortero Adrian Ghenie Hem, Wackers, Palladino, Shaw Kanevsky? Remodel my kitchen. Hoard and wait for the Euro to collapse? This last is probably where I end up... Weezy I love Adrian Ghenie but he is now big big money. I was offered a small piece and it was in the $35-40K range but rare to find.

I was offered a small piece and it was in the $35-40K range but rare to find. That's good to know the pricing on Ghenie, I had no idea. I'm only looking for smaller pieces these days but it would have to be just spectacular to justify that kind of outlay. Sounds like access is challenging, so just in case who were you dealing with? I thought that I read somewhere Hernan Bas is really expensive and just as challenging to get (does anyone know-- or who to talk to for access (someone at Lehman Maupin?). It really would be giving up the kitchen and the bathroom to do any of these, and 2012 is supposed to be my year for hunkering down and shoring up my financial picture. I don't think the global economy is out of the woods yet. Easycraig, rather than just remodel, it probably makes more sense to build on an an extra wing or walls in which to hang new art. Don't know about you, but I'm running out of space. Weezy

I went a little nuts by the end of last year and committed to 3 pieces which I am paying off until October, so I am pretty much done buying art for 2012 (and should avoid this forum until fall, lol). If another must-have comes up in 2012 (and there will, it always does), I'll have to say goodbye to some of the prints from my collection

i need another Todd Schorr, that's it. It looks like this isn't going to happen I've been in touch with the gallery for more than 6 months and kept getting back stuff like "never too early", "no worries" etc. I got a so called preview with 4 images that looked like left overs that no one would be interested in (for the price) except for one, anyone have $95,000 they wan't to give me.

For me 2012 is about big purchases Mcgee / McGinley / Aurel schmit / and a very very very long awaited commission which i was promised last year and still has no signs of appearing.
a few smaller purchases could involve a john houk / a coleman / wackers / and perhaps a matsu along with hunting down some exciting emerging artists but the top take priority.

I never understood this but I guess it works for them.
