Kevin's from Houston and has had an interesting journey to get where he is. From his site... Artist Statement: My work is about the varied journeys we take through life. It’s about growing up and living in a world that is broken. These paintings are about trauma, fear and loneliness and the strength that it takes to survive and thrive. They each contain the contrast of the untainted, young and innocent against a backdrop of a worn, ragged, and defiled world. Support versus restraint, bondage versus freedom, and tension versus slack are all themes that I often visit. My work deals with isolation, loneliness and longing teamed with a level of optimistic hope. Issues of race and the division of wealth have arisen in my recent work. This work deals with the idea of rigid boundaries, the hopeful breakdown of such restrictions, as well as questions about the forces that orchestrate our behavior. His work does have an urban feel to it, but Kevin's not really an urban/street artist in the way this board thinks of that section, so I thought this was the best place for him. Partly my fault. I meant to make a thread for him months ago, but it slipped my mind. Was reading through my PMs and I found one where I duscussed it with sleepy, and it reminded me. This is one of my favorites since I'm a big Keith Haring fan also:

One more bit of "back-filling" here. Peterson was featured on the cover of issue #9 of Blue Canvas Magazine. Had a nice article about him and his work. You can still buy the issue, or a digital copy, for $10.00 here if you're interested in his work www.bluecanvas.com/magazine/past-issues

The piece above was available at the Affordable Art Fair this weekend via C.A.V.E. Gallery and was getting some nice attention. It's quite nice, but it's a bit too big for my place. Asking is $4000. Not sure if it sold before the fair ended, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone pulled the trigger. Also, the piece below was at Affordable via C.A.V.E.... but had been purchased. List was $3000.

Kevin is an amazing painter. Next solo in LA is November 2011 at our gallery following a solo in the spring at Shooting Gallery up in SF. This will be the year many take notice for sure. Excited to be working with him.

Great thread! Talented artist who captures some strong emotions in his work without smacking a view in the face. Really loving KP's work. So happy I get to walk past this piece every day... Attachments:
