Are there preview lists for these shows and are they usually sold out instantly? Yes, although no exact order persay. I believe first dibs typically given to those who are important to the gallery (aka who have patronized them the most or are perceived to be in the future or are an important collection aka celebrity / institution). Then perhaps leftovers are given to list (not always in order, maybe to whoever is more aggressive. This thread may be helpful - tinyurl.com/9rsjllc. As to selling out, depends on the artist, but with AK, I assume a near sellout at the least is expected depending on whether there is price increase from previous shows and strength of the image. |
