The only thing preventing me from buying more Tin OGs is that they are always sold before I contact the gallery!

Tin I thank you for being open to hearing us out and being able to follow you and your process of self evaluation of your art and seeing where your endeavors may lead. It is hard to hear some of what is out there but know that nobody wants you to fail or to feel shame. To me what has happened is that your art became a little impersonal due to the amount you relied on those source photo's but seeing where you came from the 50's retro pin-up world I see where you had a slew of great source materials to work from and rework.....I kinda would have loved a Betty Page with a bionic leg or go-go-gadget arms
I think you can figure out a new better style one the melds the old tin and the new one. Hell I loved the flying rabbit you sent to sleepboy and the pinup girl on the train you were playing with.
The word dupe is a little harsh since he never denied the source or hid it after it came out. I like the word courageous since you have come out and asked for the thread to continue and continue to reach out to understand your own process.
I have always defended discourse, that is why i love this board, and called out those who i have felt have tried to squelch it but I ask that we be a tad more civil especially to those who have opened up to the board and are part of the family. Nothing wrong with tough love but it might have gone to far.
I also work in the pseudo entertainment world and know that the freelance work that many of us are regulated in is extremely hard but fruitful. We are only as good as our last idea, pitch, makeup job etc. but the good thing about our industry is that we always love a good redemption story and I think there is going to be a great one in Tin.
And Inspectasleep I am also all little unnerved about snipe post but appreciate those that stick around I hope you truly are an art collector and will became bigger part of this small thing of ours.

Looking for info about Tin's July Solo Show at Copro?
After all of the debate about Tin's work here it would appear Tin has deleted ALL of his post?
Bad Collectors, Bad! Bad! (holding a rolled up news paper)

(holding a rolled up news paper) Copro Gallery site doesn't appear to have any info on the show. That sucks that Tin has deleted all of his posts here. He probably isn't coming back. I'm not at all surprised to see that ifox (or iswydt) has not posted anything since he started (what I felt was) a smear campaign against Tin.

I take offense to the use of the word smear campaign....Many of you guys did not make it very welcoming for ifox and the others who questioned tin creativity to continue to post... very bad karma... others afraid to post your real feeling setup dummy accounts and spoke your mind....kindly slimy...
What was really sad was the fact that many of the collectors/investors either become ultra sensitive or started selling off their collection some privately. Since he deleted his old post and deleted all of his old blog post on his own site is very telling.... Good luck Mr. Tin....

I said "( what I felt) was a smear campaing" It wasn't directed to you but, feel free to take offense to how I feel. I find it hard to welcome someone who joins the forum and their first and only comments are too point out that someone uses photo references for their work. Help me out because I can't think of a polite phrase for this kind of action. Reading through the last 5 pages or so I can't see any sign of someone setting up "dummy accounts" to speak out (unless it was ifox and iswydt). You know of many "collectors/investors" selling off their collection? Tins deletion of posts here and on his blog is "very telling" of what? You must be keeping a very close watch on Tins' business.

You know of many "collectors/investors" selling off their collection? Tins deletion of posts here and on his blog is "very telling" of what? You must be keeping a very close watch on Tins' business. No there have been other posts and they have "disappeared" probably after being questioned about their account by a moderator or two. I stand by the fact that many of Tin's more vocal and obnoxious supporters are his collectors. Where are the gallery owners? Where are the fellow artist? it sucks that they haven't spoken up online but in various off site and personal conversations they are very vocal. I have been semi neutral on tin but in reality I would have been pissed if I bought a tin piece and now honestly would have felt it was semi worthless... His work, after seeing how close the source material is, reminds me of what high school students due for art class, but I applauded and still applaud him in his bravery of letting people pick apart his work and his decision. Tin asked us early on to help/convince him that he was doing something wrong. I think you have his answer..... And yes there has been an increase in the secondhand tin market... This thing of ours will only get better with discussion, critique and introspection something our little scene does not really have out of fear.... Honestly be it the first post or your last those two gave energy(negative and positive) and impacted more of the scene that any of my post.

yeah, it's a good thing they slowed their role with the price increase. I think they are priced fair right now. I can understand how galleries can want to push an artist to meet the buzz and demand, but I give props the Copro to adjusting prices back down a bit to make the show and artist successful.
