Hey guys wanted to start a thread to help out us travelers who are on the road for business or pleasure...I am stuck in the Tampa region for the next two weeks filming a show and have not been able to find any amazing galleries a lot of tourist trap crap.....But on enough acid I guess Thomas Kincade can be considered still crap!
Anyway looking to find some place to see or visit art or otherwise in the Tampa area any suggestion?

if you're up for a drive there's a gallery at downtown disney in orlando with some cool eyvind earl and dr. seuss prints as well as others. and technically you can walk to caladisi island from clearwater beach but having just done that a few weeks ago i wouldn't recommend it. it's a LONG walk. nice beach though.

Greenhorn is absolutely right about Downtown Disney, another great gallery there is The Art of Disney over by the Rainforest Cafe. (they have the Disney Big Figure Collection) Also love the Lego Store, House of Blues, Virgin Mega Store & lots more to do. And at night there is an area for adults only with dance clubs and bars, you can walk around from place to place with your drink. disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/moreMagic/moreMagicLanding?id=DTDLandingPage&bhcp=1

they just opened an authentic peruvian chicken shack near me, kinda odd as the cheapest place to eat within walking distance use to set you back 40 bucks for two, but this place is amazing so dont be stuck just eat chicken.

It should be considered a crime if near the Salvador Dali Museum and you don't go! Its incredible - as you move through it, its a seemless evolution through his different periods - culminating with a couple of his MASSIVE monumental works. and as Tom mentioned, their gift shop is awesome - I still have the watch based on his piece "The Persistence of Memory" that I bought there 10 years ago! jIm

yeah we did the salvador dali museum too. those pieces really deserve to be seen in person.
Not art related but if you're into animals I'd also recommend a trip to the big cat rescue in tampa. You can get up close to some really cool animals on a small, almost private tour for a donation of $25 but don't go if hearing about the sad conditions they have been rescued from will bother you.

unfortunately were not able to reserve in time for the full 5 or 7 day hike, but was able to do the 2 day hike. In a way, I am glad, because in that elevation, they were 2 of the most tiring days of my life. But worth it for sure.

Thanks guys. Tried to find uberbot but for some reason couldn't.
Kennedy space center was awesome. Especially the simulator.
Didn't have time for anything else.
By the way, it's fricking annoying that the traffic lights hang so low that you can't even see them if you are too close. And the fact that every street has three names is even more annoying.

Going to SF for the weekend to visit Berkeley. Staying at the Omni in the Financial District. Looking for restaurant suggestions, specifically a good spot for Sunday brunch, dim sum, and local fare. Street art (not graf) spots would be appreciated as well.

My favorite restaurants when I lived there: - El Gaucho - Dick's Drive-In - Malay Satay Hut - Thai Ginger - Metropolitan Grill - Pho Bac - Gossip for my boba fix. Taro or Red Bean! (International District) - Crab Pot - The Keg for a nice prime rib
Anything more specific you're looking for?

Finally a post I can help with having lived most of my life very near that city. Ok have to go to Joes Stone Crabs ( unless seafood is an issue ) there is going to be a tremendous wait but slide the Matre D (SP) 20 bucks and you will get seated a little quicker, do not fall for the take out place next door. Have the Stone Crabs and Hashbrowns. Now off the beach is a place called Barton G's truly a dining experince. Also far off the beach not sure if it is still there is a place called Randazos (sp) for pasta

You are going to want to try Michaels Genuine in the design district everything on the menu is amazing and very unique....130 NE 40th street... For Breakfast you have to go to Jimmy's Eastside, be prepare to wait but trust me it is worth it...7201 Biscayne Blvd..... Also for the bizarre try Taverna Opa 36 Ocean Dr, Miami Beach ...dancing on the tables, plate throwing, wining spilling fun very campy but worth going...
Last but not least check out the pawn shop lounge...it might have closed down but man it was a sight to behold... Have fun as a I freeze my ass off in Cleveland btw does anybody have any cleveland ideas?
