So busy with art that didn't have time to check out all your suggestions. Thanks... will have to try them next year. I did try Jimmy's Eastside which was pretty good. Thanks Aris.

Moved your thread here. I think we will use this thread for all soliciting of advice, food, art and otherwise when pertaining to a certain geographical location. Thanks.
Peetov:
i'm planning my first art-related trip to nyc in mid january to see the chris berens show and also catch the josh keyes show. i was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to any other galleries/shows to check out in the jan 15th-18th range. other than sloan and jonathan levine gallery with the mentioned shows, i'm not to sure what else might be up my alley/worth checking out. i'm super new to the art scene and my knowledge of art in nyc is comparable that of a toddler's...so if anyone has any information or advice to share that would be awesome.
greenhorn1:
curious to see replies too. If the berens show had opened a week earlier I would have made the drive to see it and kawasaki but it won't work for me. Especially interested in any parking tips.

I would check out the Josh Liner group show as well with artists: Damon Soule + David Choong Lee + Mars-1 + Nome Edonna + Oliver Vernon + Robert Hardgrave + Tomokazu Matsuyama. And yes, Chris Berens at Sloan Fine Art definitely if it's still up.
Make sure you check the calendar as well when the time comes...

Any more suggestions for restaurants to try in Vegas. Something not too pricey but good.... Doesn't have to be at a hotel.

Moderator's note - Posting this for Highbrow.bringing my wife to NYC for the first time, she has never been and me only on business so people where do I take her, what do we do, we leave on the 8th last minute trip we have a week there. I am going to see the Burton exhibit and the Ryan McGinley show and a few galleries, but people who are from there or been there need toy stores, places to eat, etc.
thanks so much

Cory, you must visit Chikalicioius. This dessert place where you can sit on the counter and watch them prepare a 3 course dessert for you. Don't go to the place across the street that has the same name because that is just takeout. www.yelp.com/biz/chikalicious-dessert-bar-new-york-3Also if you like asian food, check out Stella Im Hultberg's food blog for NY, no one eats better than her. stellalivestoeat.blogspot.com/

I'm still relatively new to the the San Francisco bay area... I have a few galleries I love (all mentioned in a previous post, White walls, Shooting gallery, Fifty24SF) also Anno Domini in San Jose is pretty cool.
I'd like to know where are the best outdoor spots to see street art. I visit Clarion and Balmy alley pretty regularly in the Mission, where are the other spots? I'm interested in any areas in the bay area (SF, Oakland, San Jose and anywhere in between). I'm just waiting for the sun to come out so I can go exploring again.
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers this question.

highbrow-As far as NY goes there are a few restaurants I really like. My current fave is Momofuku Noodle Bar www.momofuku.com/noodle-bar/Usually can sneak in for lunch pretty quick but dinner on weekends be prepared to wait. My fave Indian Restaurant is Brick Lane Curry www.bricklanecurryhouse.com/Artwise I know Edwin Ushiro has a show up at Alix Sloan's gallery at Norfolk and Rivington. I've been on vacation so I don't know all that much about what's going on...haven't been paying attention.
