Scott Campbell with a some celebs at Jay-Z's ridiculous NYE party in Vegas. Couldn't find the pics of him with HOV and Yeezy, which I heard were out there. But still looks like a crazy fun party to ring in the new year. Scott Campbell, J Brown, Samantha Ronson, Ellen Pompeo, & Chris Ivery Taken from worldeye, where there are a bunch of other pics from the night that don't really incorporate art folk per se..even though Jay-Z has asserted himself as a serious collector as of late.

I was at that party, @ the Marquee in the Cosmo. It definitely was the place to be on nye.

I was told last week that Jeremy Fish shaved his beard. I don't know him, but I was sad for him.

Murakami always seems so happy in photos I'd have a perma shit-eating grin if I were him too. But I've always assumed he indulged in a bit of the greenery and thought he looks blazed in most of the pics I've seen. Could be way off base, but that would certainly promote that perma smile as well.

If you ever get the chance, read a book called '7 Days in the Art World'. It has a very insightful chapter about Murakami. He is a very intense man who rules his various studios with an iron fist. He sleeps every night on a matress on the floor of his main studio and works every waking hour. I could go on but recommend reading it.
Besides that it's a fantastic and extremely well researched book that really gets you under the skin of every aspect of the contemporary art machine.

I thought it was a great book too - I liked the style of writing and the people she interviewed....she seemed to get quite a bit of honesty out of them.
