I've been looking at this guy (Ryohei Hase) for a while, and of course saw the profile of him in Juxtapoz. I think it's a bit disingenuous of him to neglect to mention anywhere in that article that his work is digital. I think you can buy prints straight from his website, however.

Sleepyboy, thanks for the welcome Yes that is the piece I picked up. He considers his original works anything that is signed and numbered, similar to Ray Ceaser. This particular piece was not available but the artist recently posted a message on his web site saying that if there was any work of interest not available as a print you could contact him and he would publish a print in edition of 1 and never again make it available. I saw the piece in Juxtapoz and it really spoke to me so i went for it. All his work is digital, Commandax, I'm not sure If I agree with your statement that Ryohei Hase himself is disingenuous in regards to his work being digital. He has never claimed otherwise and has stated many times in the public that his works are completely digital. if you feel that the Juxtapoz artical misrepresented the work then that sounds to me like a problem with Juxtapoz not the artist. Whatever the case apparently the piece arrive at 7:45am this morning after I left for work so I'll be getting my first hands on viewing after work today.

You're right, it's probably not his fault. All of the lowbrow magazines have terrible editing. I just know a couple of people who were really disappointed when they found out that this amazing new painter they had discovered wasn't really painting.

Hey Nate and Maddie! Anyways, hello all! I'm somewhat of a noob in the lowbrow scene since I've only been collecting for about 6 months but I'm a quick study with an addictive personality so it's been an intense 6 months of learning, research, and of course...spending. I was initially just going to lurk but the whole section devoted to economics and business kind of sold it for me since it infers a deeper passion for art on this board than simply "Oh my god! It's so cute!" I'm actually in the middle of writing up a blog post about whether or not there was an art bubble so it'll be neat to get into conversations with others about it. So yeah, hi all!

Name, David What do you do? Artist Why are you here? I've been a comic book artist for a long time, but I've been a Joe Sorren fan for a while now, and checking out his work has led me to a lot of other artists that I've really grown to love lately. I think that the Lowbrow movement is so vibrant right now, and it's growing to encompass more and more styles. I love the fact that there is a place for cartooning to be taken seriously as an artform, and as pure visual expression. ...And it's great to go to a board where everyone is so respectfull of everyone else's tastes and opinions. Being a comic guy, that's not a thing that I take for granted at all! Other Message Boards, Kidrobot Fav artists, Joe Sorren, Todd Schorr, Jeff Soto, Travis Louie, Crayola, James Jean, Dan Quintana, Glenn Barr Last Piece you purchaced, Tara MacPherson prints How did you find this message board, Via the Kidrobot board
