Breeze Block Gallery is proud to present Monument Adrift, an all-new collection of work by San Francisco based artist Kevin Earl Taylor.
Taylor’s oil paintings demonstrate a mastery of both technical execution and conceptual dexterity. Constellations of concepts congregate amongst imagined landscapes as he explores a magnetism unto mystery within the subject matter of his work. Myths and ideologies combine within the content leaving the viewer uncertain of whether the timeless paintings depict a scene from a visionary society of the future or relics of the past.
A monument, often steadfast, exists to symbolize and materialize a moment in time, thought pattern, or someone or thing intended to be pondered.
The monuments within these paintings shroud their portrayals by masking their make and motive. At once in transit and transition, they retain the curiosity of vast sectors of a deviant wilderness, morphing as perceptions change with the uncertainty of the time and place depicted.
In Monument Adrift, Taylor observes the power possessed by homages with ever changing focus. In nature, the mundane is heralded with as much importance as with the outwardly fascinating. Symbolic forms draw crowds, and the symbiosis of rock and flesh depicted within these paintings conveys a narrative led discourse with natural and fantastical elements woven throughout the phantasmagorical subject matter.

Breeze Block Gallery is proud to debut I'm a Stranger Here Myself, the first solo exhibition from Chicago based artist Ryan Stewart Nault.
Nault deconstructs his environments to their very base forms within his compositions, capturing a harmonious mix of abstraction and reality.
His fluid brushwork shows a tremendous level of confidence and maturity in his painting that belies his young age.
As a symptom of our relationship to time and space in this contemporary moment, the role of the stranger has become ever easier to take on. In this series of work, Nault attempts to point out how familiar the stranger has become. He does this from the only point of view he possesses - that of the American stranger - a stranger in his own wild and varied land.
As with memory, these paintings are a product of time; in reference to specific moments in time, while existing in a realm divorced from time.
I'm a Stranger Here Myself is an experiment with memory. The collective memory of the American stranger.
