Like her work alot. Maybe finally a chance to get something from her. She's kinda elusive.
Artist Statement
"Last September I moved to the countryside of Thailand from Los Angeles. My base as an artist was always in LA but now it has changed. My husband, who is a big source of my inspiration, is interested in living in several different countries and for the time being we are in Thailand.
Our house in Thailand is surrounded by wild jungle. Big black buffalos strolling around our house. A herd of goats eating grass. There are even snakes in the garden, along with a group of cranes flying in the sky. In the afternoon, we hear chanting from the Islamic mosque nearby.
In my studio, which my husband built for me in the corner of the garden, I paint every day and night. I usually finish painting at around five o'clock in the morning and go back to the main building with an empty coffee cup and a flash light in my hands. I am surprised how clean and delicious the morning air is. I stop in the middle of the grass and take a deep breath looking above to the sky full of shining stars.
With all these big changes, I wondered how my work would change. For this show, I tried not to think too much and decided to paint spontaneously. I painted the first one, then the next image naturally came to my mind and I painted it. I repeated it again and again. I didn't plan anything; the motives, the colors, even the size of the paintings.
Painting is always "communication" to me. I communicate with my husband, with my friends, family, and all the people who look at my works, it's better than using words. I feel, as though, I might be communicating with myself this time through my works. I'm seeing some things in my work, which I didn't expect that I didn't see before. I'm try to find out where it's coming from. I might have finally stepped out to the long journey of finding myself."
