I like this image from his upcoming show. This will be the poster I believe and it's downloadable as a high res image.

Wow. That's impressive. Can't wait to see the show in it's entirety. Here's the press release, along with the other press image: James Jean Kindling Solo Exhibition January 10th—February 7th, 2009 Opening Reception: Saturday, January 10th, 6pm—9pm NEW YORK, NY (December 15, 2008) — Jonathan LeVine Gallery is pleased to present Kindling, a solo exhibition of new works by James Jean. For his first show at the gallery, Jean has created a collection of original large-scale mixed media paintings and drawings on canvas, linen, and paper. Kindling will be Jean’s debut solo fine art exhibition, marking a highly anticipated event for this remarkably accomplished and acclaimed young artist. Jean’s imaginative compositions feature ethereal figures; fluid in motion, and graceful in gesture. His fantasy dreamscapes capture compelling moments, often represented beyond the laws of gravity, on an undefined plane. Incorporating traditional symbolism and dynamic narratives, Kindling introduces finely rendered imagery created with Jean’s unique aesthetic, extraordinarily kinetic style and sophisticated color palette. The subjects, as the artist explains, glide through the tableaux, tracing a narrative of thwarted desires. His subtle yet suggestive themes of metamorphosis, mortality, and sexuality blend together seamlessly, bridging the gap between the real and imagined. Jean uses exquisitely contoured line work to form the spatial relationships between his paint and canvas, resulting in a harmonious balance which can—at times—be experienced as if set to music. Several of his large-scale paintings are divided into multiple panels, echoing motifs from Chinese silk scroll paintings and Japanese wood block prints; two traditions which are sources of inspiration for the works in this show. Considering his background in the commercial arts, Jean’s genre defying style has raised the bar for a generation of young illustrators, having achieved steady success among elite clientele in the fashion, advertising and editorial industries. Winner of numerous prestigious awards, Jean has arrived at a point in his career, deciding to step away from commercial projects and focus his creative energy on fine art. He now spends his time painting for gallery and museum shows, as well as continuing to publish books on his constantly evolving process and technique. ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in 1979 in Taiwan, and raised in New Jersey, James Jean was educated at the School of Visual Arts in New York and moved to Los Angeles in 2003, where he currently lives and works. In a ceaseless torrent of images, his finely wrought and narrative-driven work has captured the attention of a worldwide audience including the admiration of other artists, designers, and filmmakers. Renowned for his draftsmanship and imagination, Jean’s work has been featured in print, fabric, large-scale installations, and animation. His influences include various sources such as Japanese Woodblock prints, Northern Renaissance paintings and etchings, Chinese scroll paintings, Shanghai advertising posters, comics, anatomical charts, and vintage printed ephemera, Jean's images evoke a sense of fantasy and the subconscious, seductive in their delicacy and sensuality.

OMG.
Swan at 48k, Toymaker at 45k, both 30k pieces, all 15k pieces. All gone. I can't believe he's selling so well.

This is the most impressive thing I have seen in quite some time. And this show is selling in a poor economy, and without any secondary market hype. None of that, "It's priced at 10k, but I know it's really worth 15k" reactionary buying. This is really, really mindblowing.

After seeing this show preview I think James Jean is so far ahead of everyone else in concept and execution you cannot fairly compare him to anyone in this genre. I was not familiar with him before seeing this show so unfortunately I wasn’t on “the list”. Well, I am a believer now, these paintings are utterly amazing.
Based on the quality of the paintings in this show the prices actually seem low to me. If anyone out there owns “Maze”, “Vanity”, “Hive” or “”Fountain 2” and wants to flip it for a big profit feel free to contact me and I assure you we will both be happy you did.

Thanks for the kind words Hung, I really appreciate it. As you know I’m kind of a low key collector, but I just had to share my thoughts about this show. I am simply blown away…

I ADORE Ballad. I wish I could snag one of these... they're all quite stunning. FYI... Levine and James made prints for Ballad and Toy Maker. Editions of 50. 400 and 600 respectively. Vanity and Rabbit are $85 and are opened editions. If you guys want one let me know cause I will be in NYC till Tues. As you know I’m kind of a low key collector, but I just had to share my thoughts about this show. I am simply blown away… Welcome to the board. This is definitely a worthy topic for you to make your debut. Hope to hear more from you. FYI. There are at least 3 board member that were lucky enough to buy from the show. The 15k paintings were gorgeous and the monotone oils with a splash of colors were really slepted on cause they didn't look that great in the preview, but in person they looked fantastic. The kiss of color JJ puts on these paintings are what did it for everyone. If you get a chance to stop by the show and see his stuff in person, you will also enjoy the Abstract and drawings. They are under 10k and are definitely a steal for the people who were lucky enough to get them. Camel (never made into a painting), Toymaker, Ballad and Swan were awesome drawings. Wish I had an extra $48k laying around. Willow Horse is pretty breathtaking. Thanks for posting those pics Hung. What? No love for taking the pics? Glad you guys enjoyed the images. Here's a few more.

first post everyone ! greetings ;D
this place is great, lots of discussion going on that other forums lack. i should have started being active here a while ago. anyway...
to anyone that is able to attend the show, congrats, i am sure its amazing. james jean has been a favorite of mine for a while, and seeing him finally do this show is just incredible. i so badly wish i could see these originals in person.
ballad and toymaker are prints ? that is great news ! i really hope i can find a way to pick them up.
and that last drawing there, Camel, it kills. too bad it wasn't made into a painting.
i got on the list way too late, didn't even get a call. probably a good thing though, jean's prices aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for and he is one of the best.
