Raymond Pettibon: Cutting Room Floor"The first of this winter's pair of Raymond Pettibon exhibitions at Regen Projects focused on early monochromatic, pop-culture infused pen-and-ink drawings. Now, in part two, the gallery highlights the punk refugee's creative evolution through the use of a wider color palette and new media. Pettibon's complex, heavily-layered collages combine images with letters, resulting in self-contained artifacts that delve into familiar themes of history, war, politics, and commercialism. The result is a complex visual lexicon that lends itself to multiple readings, successfully synthesizing pop and quasi-propaganda with high art and a wicked sense of humor." – Tanja Laden When: Dec 13 – Jan 24, 2009 Tuesdays–Saturdays Where: Regen Projects 633 N.
