What exactly do they mean by "poster"? So is this not considered a print even though it's limited and signed?

What exactly do they mean by "poster"? So is this not considered a print even though it's limited and signed? Posters are generally Off Set Lithographs that are machine produced. Also, posters tend to have advertising/printing on the paper promoting something. Take a Loupe or Magnifying Glass and you can see the Dot Matrix in Off Set's (posters) where as if you look at giclee or other reproductions you do not see a dot matrix. Back in the day before giclee we always had a loupe to check artwork & see if it was an off set which always meant lower end reproduction. Most off sets are open editions or publishers producing huge editions of 1000+ All of Ryden's "Posters" have printing in the border, his higher end reproductions do not have any printing. Ryden's posters are the best Off Set's I've ever seen. Print is a generic term for all reproductions now day's.

I have never been a fan of his previous works, except for Princess Sputnik. This is really oddly lovely though. I love the softness of her(literally), and to me she looks like she has this deep sadness over her face. I assume these will sell out quickly, but I think I will try, as this will be my first Ryden.

On the fence with this one......i'm at checkout, but hesitant to pull the trigger. Have Ryden posters in the past held or gained in value? This would be my first official Ryden piece. What do you think guys, should i go for it?

What do you think guys, should i go for it? in general I think they hold fairly well but don't expect much gain especially considering that this one has been available for over 3 hours already without selling out. I was watching a pumpkin president on ebay the other day that ended up going for just under $400 ($100 less than face) but in general i'd say you can probably break even if you decide to sell.

to me, $500 is a huge purchase. I get the feeling that to some people on here it's probably not. I have bought a few pieces in that price range though and my feeling is, if you have to question it you should probably pass. There will be other pieces that you just HAVE to have and it would probably be better to wait for one of those to come along.

I think this is one of his stronger images released as a print recently and its a decent size. If you like it, I'd say go for it.

I thought so too, that's why I got one (and 500$ is a lot for me right now). I would have also loved the piece with the "nice bee placement" (still don't know its name) as a print, but this one really grabbed me. I am so excited about his new show.
