“View from a Window of a Rented Beach Cottage,” New release from Seuss - Custom Frame 23 x 29 1/5 x 1/14 Edition 850 Opening price $1995 Follow the link below to view Seuss's special preview www.drseussart.com/motions/eBlast/ViewfromaWindow.htmlTheodor Seuss Geisel was a perpetual engine of creativity. Initially, for the vast majority of his artworks, Seuss preferred pencil and “pen and ink,” then gauche, watercolor, and oil on canvas for his drawings and paintings. Perhaps his most inventive mixed-media works came in the early 1930s, taking the form of taxidermy sculptures which combined real animal parts with leather, fur, shaving brushes and found object metal. But of all the works I’ve researched over the past ten years, one mixed-media artwork stands alone as the only found object painting among the 67 paintings and drawings published within the Secret Art of Dr. Seuss collection. The original painting, “View from a Window of a Rented Beach Cottage,” was idiosyncratically framed by Seuss using one of his most creative found objects of all time – an antiqued window frame with a functioning hinge and screen. View from a Window of a Rented Beach Cottage has now been painstakingly re-created as a mixed-media artwork based on Seuss’s original specifications. We encourage you to speak with your art consultant regarding this one-of-a-kind acquisition. It’s more than an important artwork for your collection; it’s a window for your room, a view into Seuss’s artistic mind, and the most unique mixed-media painting in the entire Secret Art Collection.
