Here's more. Really enjoyed last year's show. Looks like a pretty good lineup this year as well.

Who is the artist of the first piece with all the mice/animals? That is Chris Berens- a painter (not digital!) from Amsterdam. I had a show with him last December- he has two pieces coming up at Copro, then two for my May group show, then a show in December with Sloan Fine Art. He might also be showing some works with his gallery in Amsterdam, Jaski Gallery. I posted the other Copro image in his thread over in 'Pop Surrealism".

Who is the artist of the dog painting? I'm really digging it! Felis glamourous nigripes, commonly known at the Booted Glamour Cat. From “The Late Fauna of Early North America”, a series of paintings by Scott Musgrove As can be seen, this rendering is no longer "booted" and much more realistic in nature than his past pieces. It's technically a color study for a massive upcoming painting Scott plans to do with the character, easily his most iconic and well-known creature. This painting is absolutely stellar and will mark the beginning of Scott's plans to incorporate more realism into his work; painting something that has been patently unrealistic and bizarre in his work in a more realistic manner as a means of creating a bit of tension with the viewer. I'm a Musgrove freak and am happy he's going for something a little different, not that he said it would be drastically different really. But this Glamour Cat piece has an undeniably different feel to it...in a very good way! I can't wait to see the fully worked iteration down the road. This Hi Fructose show is shaping up to be the epitome of the perfect group exhibit for the second year in a row. The lineup is the stuff dreams are made of. Love the Berens Bigger One piece. I love penguins and the flying penguin is priceless...especially because they've lost their ability to fly as a result of having no real predators in Antarctica. If only they could fly...they look badass!! And congrats to him for getting recognized by Alix Sloan. I think that is a great fit for Chris and might very well be the best venue for him in NYC. Good stuff!!

Damn, that's a cat? I thought for sure it was a dog. I still love it even if I'm more a dog person than a cat lover.

Damn, that's a cat? I thought for sure it was a dog. I still love it even if I'm more a dog person than a cat lover. Ha. That's funny you should say. I hate cats with a passion and have always been a dog person too. I've never met a single cat that provides the unconditional love that every single dog I've encountered does, let alone any love at all. The emotional codependent nature of a dog is priceless. I always wished it was the Booted Glamour Dog and secretly considered it one, as it looks like a dog to me. I'm psyched that this iteration, more so than any other, is way more dog-like in how it's painted.

See, that's where I side with cats. Dogs will love anybody. Cats are a bit more discriminating... you have to earn their love.
