man... LA gets all the good stuff. here's some info they just posted on their blog. i've seen a pic of the sam flores piece... it's pretty big and will blow minds.

San Francisco-based apparel and art company Upper Playground, photographer and director Estevan Oriol and artist Mister Cartoon are excited to announce the unveiling of a series of four one-of-a-kind retail establishments in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. Each storefront will offer customers a unique fashion and fine art experience. In celebration of the new properties, the three entities will host anopen house on Saturday, May 31, 2008 that will feature a special art exhibit and appearances from some of the world’s leading designers involved in the project.
Upper Playground is the pioneer of combining fashion and fine art. In celebration of the new store opening, there will be a special art exhibit featuring the works of Usugrow, Sam Flores, Jeremy Fish, David Choe, Herbert Baglione, San, Retna, Saber, Alex Pardee, Ron English, Doze Green, Slick, Armsrock and David Ellis. Many of the featured artists on display also contribute designs to Upper Playground’s apparel line.

Checked it out last week... space is super sharp and so cool to be able to shop all their shirts in person. Dangerous, but cool. Wanted more than I could afford at the time. Mr. Cartoon's studio is next door too and that spot is super tight.
Don't sleep on San, his work in person is mindblowing, especially his drawings. Just picked one of those up. He's a nice painting in the show, and I think he'll have a solo there later this year.
ALSO - Armsrock has an amazing install in the front window. Was able to meet him when I popped up to his show in SF at Upper Playground's gallery up there. So can't wait for our show with him this December, he's got a huge year ahead of him.
