In an effort to find a new home quickly, I've significantly dropped prices on all the pieces. They are all priced either at, or in most cases, below what I paid originally. I understand that in order to sell pieces these days, you've gotta take a bit of a financial hit and make it worthwhile to the buyers. So that's what I've done. I think these prices are insanely fair now, but by the lack of attention garnered by this thread maybe I'm the only one. Either way, shoot me a message if you're interested in anything. Thanks.

a couple great pieces sold, but a couple great pieces still available..plus added an eric white piece and the amazing soto and neth munnies, which i hate to do but times are tough. doubt i'll get much interest in the custom figures here, but thought i'd see if you folks had interest before going over to the dreaded kr boards.
bump.

Bump for adding my Musgrove (that's right!!!!)..and for unbelievably still having available one of the strongest Rube pieces to date (with a female character, instead of guy) for way cheaper than you'll find available at any gallery show.

I hate to even consider it, but I might have a chance at my true Holy Grail of Collecting and have to make a possible sacrifice to get it. With that in mind, I've tentatively thrown a very classic Soto piece on the block. If you're interested, drop me a line to discuss. Please only get in touch if you have a serious inquiry. Thanks.
Oh and shockingly this amazing Rude piece is still available at below rock bottom pricing.

yeh I honestly wish I didn't have to pay for school, or that Reuben Rude piece would be mine. It's really amazing.
What is the holy grail piece you spoke of, if you don't mind?

Sorry folks. I just can't jinx things yet. I'm barely a day into discussions and this is going to take some serious luck - and money - to make happen...both of which are things I'm down on as of late. If you know me well enough, I think you could make a fair enough guess at what it is. But I don't want to say the words myself....just yet at least. Hopefully today will bring some more concrete terms.

That's understandable. It must be something real special! Best of luck with whatever it is.

Thanks all. But I think I'm quickly losing hope in the feasibility of this panning out. I'll try to retain some optimism for a little while longer. But it's just so far out of my financial grasp it would be silly to think positively. Hell, pessimism has worked for me in the past with acquisitions I thought weren't even a possibility, so maybe I'll run with that. Ha.
And just look to my avatar for a hint at what I'm aiming for.
So close, Jim....yet SO very far away.

Best of luck! I sold my canvas Sputnik for more than twice what I paid for it, and it sold in less than a day. Making me think I should have done the buy it now for more.
As a side note, as to money and what seems to me to be a lot of money isn't certainly much to others. The guy I sold it to strictly bought originals, but said that he liked the canvas giclees for hanging in his bathroom. He also tossed the print into the trunk of his Bentley with no padding or anything, which also had a bunch of empty soda cans tossed about it. I was somewhat horrified, but it wasn't mine anymore.

He also tossed the print into the trunk of his Bentley with no padding or anything, which also had a bunch of empty soda cans tossed about it. I was somewhat horrified, but it wasn't mine anymore. I wish I had known you were parting ways with yours recently. I would've been all over it...or at least, made an effort. I've been in search of this gem for well over 5 years when I first became aware of Ryden's work. I let the one that popped up on eBay in 2004 slip through my hands by a mere $250 bucks, cause I just couldn't enter a sufficient bid to win it right out and stretch my budget that far. $9k was a shitload back then for me...hell it still is, almost even more so. And then lost out on the one in 2006 that got listed on eBay, once again by being the second highest bidder with $11.5k and once again being short by a few hundred bucks. Both were incredibly crippling, as I had thrown up as much as I could for a piece of art that I wanted so badly and that I was willing to go so deep in debt, and both times it didnt cut it. However, as you point out, there are always going to be those collectors out there with more money than you. And moreover, there will be those that $10-15k is chump change cause they have so much money they don't know what to do with it. Your sale story is so very discouraging, as I'm fairly certain the same sort of thing will occur with the one I found - or that found me - this time. A higher offer will come in and I'll be shut out again. I mean, $15k for a canvas Sputnik these days is cheap....very cheap! And sadly, that's as far as I can go at the moment. Even at that price point, which it's highly unlikely the selling party will accept and equally unlikely that someone else won't swoop in and offer what it should go for ($20k+), it's going to take a lot of work to get there. I'd have to let go of multiple pieces in my collection to go after it. Still, I told myself that if I ever got another chance at one in the sub-$20k range, as I truly felt I'd never see one again in that range, I'd do everything humanly possible and make the necessary sacrifices - be it letting go of cherish pieces or just digging an even bigger debt grave - to make it happen. It is beyond a dream - a dream that I was fairly confident would never come true - to own a canvas Sputnik. Much like you pointed out, I personally view the canvas Sputnik as a Ryden "original" due to it's extremely small edition size and super fine production measures. I too really only collect original work...and while I'd love to own a legitimate Ryden painting, I know it's far from my grasp with the budget I'm working with. As such, I've always been infatuated with Ms. Sputnik and have forever set my sights on her. And it seems she might have a hankering for me, as this one came out of nowhere and knocked on my door. I guess I shall see what happens. Maybe I'll get lucky.

It looks like I'll be conceding in my quest and will probably be taking Waking Up off the market.
If anyone has interest in the Rude and/or Craola, let me know.
