thought i'd start a thread for Teresa Duck, a young and exciting artist from the north of england. i think that some artchival members might well enjoy her work too - she seems to grab a healthy pinch of the surreal and combine it with a dose of symbolism, all served on a bed of metaphysical subject matter. I love the victorian anatomical textbook style she presents with the labels incorporated into the paintings - they leave me wanting to know what words she may actually use to describe the items she highlights, but the not knowing is equally as intriguing. i just recently bought a small piece by her from Opus Art's 'fresh cream 2' show in Newcastle. some details and pics of that show here... arrestedmotion.com/2010/04/openings-fresh-cream-2-opus-art/here are some images of her work i also know that she is an artchival 'lurker', so i'm hoping that this thread may prompt her to join up!

yeah prices are good with the pound to the dollar being shockingly bad at the moment i think it makes sense to buy from the uk at the moment. here's the piece i got as it arrived the other day in the smallest crate in the world... the colours are so vibrant against the black background. very happy with this piece i took it to the framers yesterday to get it put in a chunky black shadow box.

Hey Sven, all framed up now I see! Would you like me to touch up those white specks? Not sure if they were caused by the piece being a little tacky still when you received it?

hi teresa, and welcome!
the specks on that picture are actually a lot less noticeable in person (i'm looking at it now)....
i think the specks are actually sawdust from where the screws were drilled into the little crate. i kind of see them as badges of honour! the oil was still a little tacky, hence i wanted it to go behind glass to keep the dust away. 'cos the glass is really rebated in the frame and is very low reflection, you can hardly see it's there. i had to check in the frame shop there was actually glass in there.
interested to hear what you think of the framing....?

I can see what you mean about the glass in the frame I didn't realise there was any in there!
The simple frame is a nice choice I think, particularly with the piece itself being so small. But then I must admit I personaly tend to prefer simple frames.
