Hi guys, when you put a % of your ebay listings for charity. Is it automatically paid at the end of the sale, or is it done manually ?
If its not automatic, can anyone here explain to me how I donate ?
Thanks cash

Personally, I would avoid eBay charity. The company that handles the payment to the charity is owned by eBay and takes a hefty cut from the charity, so their claim that you are not charged a final value fee on the donation is bullshit, or at the very least a lot of smoke and mirrors. I would make your donation direct.
Sorry, that doesn't really help, I know. I've never used the service so can't answer your questions I'm afraid.

well... the way I look at it, if you're going to sell something on ebay and want to use the proceeds for charity, they're going to get a cut no matter what. might as well have buyers know you're going to donate something and get that ribbon on your auction.
i did it awhile ago.. it was done automatically as I remember.

This is very true, and publicising your fund raising may well help the auction do better.
But I just googled how much charities get charged for the donation and on average it's 15%, with a sliding scale going from 20% for donations under a couple of quid up to 5% +£100 for donations over £1,000. For donations over £100 it's 10% +£15.50, so from £100 the charity would only get £74.50. This strikes me as really excessive and way above, for example, Just Giving which gets a lots of criticism for taking just 5%.

Cheers for the repsonse guys, you are right adding the info about the donations helps. The recent winner of my Beejoir can bidded more because I included charity info, so I guess it can out weigh the difference in donating direct.
