Here is a short clip from the high point of Lowbrow. The scene and man that kicked it all in the ass, Robert Williams. This is from 1990 at the Tamera Bane Gallery on Melrose in Hollywood.

I remember this show, think Merry brought in Lowbrow when she worked there. They released Williams 4 piece Suite and the 12 piece Cartoon Surrealism Portfolio shortly after this show if I remember right. Robert Bane's gallery on Melrose was my favorite space back in the day. (Tamera is his wife) The little loft area was my favorite perch on the floor or hanging out in the backroom/vault with the shippers going thru all the inventory during shows. We were an Authorized Bane Gallery back then and went to almost all of his shows. (not Luongo) I had more trouble with Bane than any other art publisher, he always tried to cheat us. (always) Sorayama had a real battle in court with him Sorayama vs Bane www.sorayama.net/html/ruling.htmlknol.google.com/k/art-sorayama-v-tamara-bane-gallery-and-robert-bane#

Yeah this was a kick ass show/time. I was there as well and bought some old VHS off E-bay with this tiny clip on it for a trip down memory lane. Not bad for 10 bucks... I remember that Sorayama show as well. This was also the first place I saw Schorr's work. Thanks

I was at the Sorayama Show. (still have the show brochure) Remember the painting of the Cowgirl with the American Flag snapping in the air behind her. (in the loft area) I thought it was beautiful, very Norman Rockwell-ish but not at all risque until I noticed her chaps were crotchless. (surprise, surprise)
Purchased a few of Todd Schorr's "Date with Mr Big Bad" prints from Bane as well.
Good times.
