I'll try: Favorite image because I had no background on the guy before this. I saw this Wranglers ad and thought, that is an amazing ad even though I never thought wranglers were very cool jeans. I just found it to be a very striking image with out being dirty per-say. Just very provocative. Thanks to the mighty internet, I have been able to follow his work over the years. Wish I had bought something from him a while ago when I could have better afforded it.

I love the rawness of his work. His nudes are both casual and sexual at once.

It would have to be this one from the Moonmilk series as the rock bathed in golden light looks like molten lava. It's a huge piece that is totally mesmerising if you see it in person:

Yeah. This is actually a nice abstraction of the original. Just for reference, here the original shot that it was based off. I really loved this piece. I strongly considered somehow lumping a b/w into my purchase from last year, but the three I wanted - Wolf, Owl and Tarantula - were all sold out already. Not eligible as a moderator, but I still want to play. Way too many personal favorites too break it down to one, but always loved this shot..

I could pick a favorite from each series of his work, but I'll go old school for this one. I threw in a bid on this one at the PdP auction, but the other bidders got a bit carried away and I couldn't quite bring it home.

Thanks for the giveaway Sleep. I just love this piece for it's balance of serenity and abandon. The image totally draws me in. On one level it's rather peaceful but since we can't tell where she is going to fall, we are left wondering whether she's given up completely or about to make one really big splash.

Im usually not a huge fan of photography (could be cause I was exposed to it so much in my life, with my granpa having one of the first photo studios around here), so I was actually new to Ryan's work until this.. but I really like his his photos, especially the ones including animals.. there is something so basic, so genuine about animals on photos, cause they just can't strike a pose or act in any way, so every shot gets the pure essence of that moment... I think I'd actually pick the original photo for this print as my favorite: the reason I like it is cause owls always look a bit scared, or out of place, so placing it on someones behind makes it all looks surreal, fake, and yet again, so natural and innocent.. not to mention my missus' favorite childhood pet was an owl named "Whoop Whoop" ...

i mentioned ryan mcginley to my girlfriend recently. her response: "oh yeah, the guy who photographs naked hipsters."
this made me chuckle, but then i was like, "yeah, that guy."

Also from Moonmilk. Love the contrast of red w/ yellow and the tilted angle is a nice touch.

i'm not going to enter the contest as a moderator, but if anyone in new york is going along to the show, i'd be very grateful if someone could pick up a copy of the print for me (they are free to attendees). ta.

I guess the key thing was to pick an image with a (preferably) naked body in it... ok, good to know for next time (just kidding, of course) congrats to the winners!!!
