i also feel that some of her older work showed a lot of promise. it had a nice level of surrealism in the compositions - elongated contorted necks and the like. the use of hair as mask. enjoyed those elements. i've not enjoyed anything i've seen in the last couple of years at all though. the hint of surrealism seems to have gone and left the paintings looking strangely disproportionate, with an awkwardness to their composition. i hope she manages to hit the mark again in the future, she's still very young.

I have no doubt in my mind that Sarah's work will impress in the coming future. She is devoted for sure and as Sven said, young to boot. She puts out a lot of work, her gallery holding well over 100 pieces (a lot for being 24). I can only image after so many paintings, where you end up is far away from where you once started. As for her last show I feel that maybe sticking to a theme worked against her. It can be hard to make a cohesive body of work sometimes and themes further the parameters in which you work within. I hope to see a more surreal undertone in her future work as that is what attracts me to it but as tpthaler says an artist must go their own way.

Here is something she is working for that Portland show Thinkspace is curating ( showthread). Like the flecks of snow...

Sarah's work for my tastes seems to be very hit or miss. There are some works she's done that I really like a lot then some that I really dislike. This latest is one of the latter for me.
I do look forward to seeing more of her work though because the pieces I like I like a lot.
