I will be around London and in Scotland for a little more than a week. We have a private tour guide planned, so I think most of the more popular sites we have covered, but we can add our own locations as well to the itinerary.
Does anyone have any recommendations, not only art-wise but maybe some must-sees?

Last year in Scotland I went to Loch Lomond by car, stunning area. And Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven was quite the sight as well. loch lomond ? ! ... I'm from 2 miles due south. nice part of the planet when it's not precipitous. if you're headed there.. i can recommend a fine place over looking the loch. (rivers edge) if you're going north... (to skye..) - do check out Plockton... something special. don't forget there's not much in terms of big road up there... so take note if you think you can do x,y,z in a day... otherwise Ed is cool.. Weedgie Land (glasgow) has it's vibrations as well.. think grit as opposed to fresh air (glasgow versus ed). i jest, of course - there's a bit of us and them betwixt the two 'cities'. have good time... where..ever you go .. and don't forget the whisky. (don't overdo it... you'll regret it... ). ..btw : london ? (I moved south) - has way too many things to cover ... in one message - give us an idea of what you're in search of..). ..

Belgo centraal just off covent garden for a cheap-ish kinda fun lunch. www.belgo-restaurants.co.ukSun and 13 cantons left at the bottom of carnaby street, nice little pub with dj's downstairs some evenings sunand13cantons.co.ukAvoid Camden unless you really want to go - toooo busy. V&A www.vam.ac.ukNational Portrait Gallery www.npg.org.ukA day's walk.... Tower of london, crown jewels, over Tower bridge, then borough market, the globe thetre, tate modern, and various pubs, walk along the south bank, go to the bar in the roof of the oxo tower, there's a little glass door on your right that most people miss that takes you onto the balcony looking over the thames. Beware eye watering drink prices tho! then London Eye.

Thanks for the tips and links. We'll visit the Tate for sure, and V&A looks interesting along with most everything else.
I'll be there at around the middle of September; is there anything set up specifically for the olympics that might still be up then?

We live on Great Russell Street and so neighbour the British Museum. Absolute must if your visiting London, in my opinion.
Living so centrally we know quite a few of the local galleries in Soho and around Oxford Street so drop me a pm if your interested in a few pointers.
Safe travels!
