Does anyone here frame themselves, I find I am spending more and more money on having items framed, when I look in other forums it appears there are a great deal of websites where one could purchase the materials themselves, if anyone has or does framing themselves I have a few questions on measurements for ordering a frame. I have found I can have my local framer, float the image on acid free board for me at a very reasonable cost, just not sure what size frame to order. I know that sounds insane, but frames have a lip to hold the glass of course and my question is do I measure the entire board that the work is floated on and the frame builder or store takes that into consideration, or do I have to find the size of the lip on the frame and add that to the measurement ?
sorry about my insane rambling posts as of late, might be time to change meds. ( I am kidding people, my meds are fine, no kidding I am not on meds. ) as always thanks.

I do all my framing myself, and from my experience it really doesn't matter which measure you take, as long as you make it clear for the framer about what you measured... they can add the lip part easily, or not, as long as you know how you would like it to look at the end.. hope that helps, and good luck with the entire mission..

HB,
I believe one of our members, easy rating, does extensive DIY framing himself. You should drop him a note. He may have a trick or two about framing art works. Hope this helps. Best of luck.
